JOHN WALL JOHN WALL! Wizards vs. Warriors Summer League Game 1 Open Thread
In about four hours, we will finally see our man John Wall play in an NBA game. I'll have much more live from Vegas coming up, but for now, begin talking about the game here. The game will be televised on Comcast Sports Net at 8 p.m., with Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier doing the play-by-play from back in the CSN studios.
For more on the Warriors roster, go here.
GO WIZARDS!
UPDATE: Nick Young will play in tonight's game. He'll start alongside John Wall, Cartier Martin, Trevor Booker and JaVale McGee, according to Chris Miller.
UPDATE: On second thought, Nick won't play tonight. He said he's expects to play tomorrow. Raymar Morgan will start in his place. Also, Sam Cassell is coaching.

The NBA TV play-by-play guys....
Banter is a bit annoying at times. They spent time discussing how buff the ref is. And discussing the phrase “ball don’t lie!”
Buck and Phil

Get the sense they're specifically drilling these guys on half-court execution
Wall seems to be walking the ball up the floor.
Good to get some practice there
Of course, I hope that we start using the fast break more than we did last season, because our team is too athletic to confine to the half-court

Yeah, playing Javale in the halfcourt can be dangerous
Plus, I can’t imagine Gil defending shooting guards well period, but in the half court, his height problem will be a lot more obvious

I agree
But I also think they have to give him some rope to attack, because once he harnesses that ability even more, he’ll be impossible to stop.
Hopefully
This rust will go away after this game or next.
I know
I think that is a lot of what we are seeing
Here's to that.
They’re still forcing transition a little too hard, but settling down. All those turnovers and only down by two at the half means settling down on defense. GS has work cut out for them in the second half.

Except that Wade

Eh
I think he’s not really sure where he wants to be. Not a bad thing, just wish he was more assertive, especially on high-lows

I don’t think Morgan will get it done. You can add him for depth though, but we still need a SF. Any undrafted SFs ben dominating in the Summer League so far???
I could see Martin spending some time there
I like his hustle and he can shoot, I have no problem with waiting until next year’s draft to get someone. Heck, maybe we’ll get lucky and be bad enough to get Harrison Barnes.

So far, I'm disappointed in Booker and intrigued by Ndiaye
Booker looks a lot smaller than I thought he would, he doesn’t seem to have those long arms people were talking about. He’s not as assertive as I thought he’d be, although I guess we can’t expect a ton from a 23rd pick.
Ndiaye has horrible timing for rebounds, but I like his energy and size. He’d have actually been an even better fit wit the TWolves, though. He needs to stay closer to the basket, too.

I did like was when the Wizards switched on the pick and roll and he didn’t let the center back him down at all. Gave up no space.

It just seems that a lot of small guards seem to need to have the ball in there hands. It just looks as if the offense doesn’t move well or distribute the ball well with him on the court.

I quite honestly hate Big Z, Verjaoe, and West just as much as Lebron, so I am not sure that I can love the Cavs now.

…but if they play tough I am prepared to hate them again
We're from the city with the highest murder rate in the country. Why WOULDN'T they call us the Bullets?

So how does everyone feel about winning a game where we turned it over 20 times?

Shows me that we could have won by 15 if we actually played good.
"However, the true greatness of the Ravens’ line lies in their malevolence, led by right end Haloti Ngata. Simply put, Ngata can’t be blocked by mere mortals. He is not a product of the human species. He is really a creation of a building contractor, made of cinderblocks and some type of flesh-like covering. Throw in Kelly Gregg at nose tackle and behemoth rookie Terrence Cody and you have something truly frightening."
No doubt
They’ll definitely try to ‘develop’ those turnovers down to 0, ugh

Definitely what we saw tonight...
Did anyone else see that strange frontcourt points War 40-something Wiz-0? What was that?

Like 25, lol!
But Wall stepped up and McGee was right behind him

Feeling good.
Everyone looked awesome! Flawless summer record, here we come.
I think Javale has the best one game stat line in summer league play so far...
21 points and 13 rebounds…crazy
JaVale force-fed a dunk sandwich to the Warriors

Wall and Javale. Pick and Roll all day
Play 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 the rest of the summer league
If only we could fuse McGee's offense with Ndiaye's defense...
McGee blocks shots, but that’s about it for his defense.
He was all over the map...
charging out to the 3 pt line…I thought it was a mirage? Then, ‘of course he is’, heh

Nick Young will still be picking daises this year
He just doesn’t have the gusto. Tons of talent, no confidence or eye of the tiger. Still plays like his drunk angry dad is in the stands ready to beat him after the game
I think/hope Wall/Blatche
brace him and get him the gusto he needs to do it. Come on, psychological breakthrough

Gusto. Catch it.
"Guess you guys aren't ready for that yet... but trust me, you're gonna love it." ~Marty McFly
Nice start
Just summer league and all, but no one who counts disappointed or anything, and some good signs of things to come.
Other than the 8 turnovers I thought Wall was awesome with 24 points and 8 assists.
JaVale played very well overall as did Cartier Martin. Morgan and Randle had some good moments out there.
Not sure if Blake Griffin is playing for the Clippers on Monday against the Wiz but last I heard I don’t think so?
Blake Griffin
It sounds like he isn’t playing summer league
That's it for me.
Thanks for the link ATLredskins.
Good night everyone. It’s looking like 10-11 season would be a fine one.
Beasley got traded for a second round pick
now tell me he isnt worth that. Would you rather have Yi or Beasley? Cmon now.
