No one believes that the Wizards will make a run at any "top level" free-agent this year... Mainly, because we are not viewed by outsiders as an attractive enough organization. In order to get a "top-level" free-agent this year or any other year, the Wizards must be considered a championship contender. Carmelo Anthony, considered by many to be the most coveted free-agent available next year will be 27 and will most likely sign his last max contract next year. The BOYD strategy has been discussed in length, however; the strategy of acquiring young "unproven" talent to become a contender is a gamble, especially when there are proven players available via trade or free agency. I sincerely hope that "John Wall Mania" will immediately legitimize this franchise and help to entice free agents to DC.
Instead of more draft picks, an additional Top-5 draft pick should be the main objective (Much higher chance of developing into a starter)... Am I alone in wanting proven NBA talent, instead of more draft picks that never become legitimate starters in the league???
