Arenas, according to sources, has spoken with John Wall since the Wizards landed the No. 1 pick in last week's draft lottery, and is confident that the two can play together. The drafting of Wall likely will force Arenas out of the point guard spot and over to shooting guard, which many believe is his more natural position anyway. Although Arenas was suspended, Flip Saunders late this past season added a new wrinkle to his already extensive offense, and expects to feature more of a two-guard attack rather than his typical point-guard-initiated schemes. Saunders said in April that the new look relieves some of the pressure on the point guard and also gives the team flexibility having two guards sharing ball-handling and facilitating duties.
It also could have been a "just in case" experiment to see how things would look if Washington were to either land the top pick, or feature Arenas and Shaun Livingston together this season. Obviously, the Wizards did land that pick.
Whenever Gilbert is confident, that's a plus in my book.

If Gilbert behaves
Let him prove himself again. I think he’s very concerned about being remembered as a great player, and to do that he’s going to have to overcome a lot this season. I don’t subscribe to this “cancer” thing, that you have no choice but to trade him for garbage in return. I really think he’s learned a hard lesson and will focus on being a good teammate.

I agree
I think Gil is capable of playing either guard position and Wall running the point may very well be an ideal thing for Gil since he has a scorer’s mentality anyways. With those two in the backcourt, it will be very hard for teams to focus on any one particular guy since they both can burn you on a double team. Will be very interesting to see how it plays out.

I agree with that.
If Livingston comes on board we will never be lacking at the point. It’s as though we’ll always have 2 pgs on the floor at all times. We hardly had one on the court at times this past season. You can never have to many guys with court vision on the court at once.

More of the old Gil
Since Gilbert will have less of the facilitating duties I think we will see more of the old Gilbert. The Gilbert that was averaging almost 29 points a game. He can lock in more on scoring now. I thought early on last year he was passive because he wanted to create for everyone else, while in the end, he was our best scoring option still. With Wall, they have to potential to be a better duo than Gil and Hughes ever were.

IF GIL don’t start at point he’ll be sitting his $ss on the bench. HE’LL get killed playing and trying to guard the 2 position. BESIDES that position belongs to NICK YOUNG,I SAID IT AND I’M STICKING WITH IT[LAUGH IF YOU WANNA], BUT WATCH WHEN THE SEASON START.

You should use caps lock more often
And Nick Young is an average NBA player at best. No way in hell does NY steal pt from Gil…..

Not worried about them defensively(atleast not more than usual when Gil is on the floor)
Gilbert was the worst defender in the league last year. Can’t get any worse regardless of what position he plays. Plus I honestly would rather have a SG try and post up Arenas or shoot over him than have Gil try and stay in front of a PG. Dude was giving up 3 feet of cushion against Eddie Freakin House last season.
Well when Gilbert went out
He was currently ranked as the worst defender in the league(with a minimum number of minutes) by Synergy Sports. I’m sure a great argument can be made for AJ as well.

John Wall is definitely long enough to guard SGs if necessary.
However I suspect its easier to hide Gil at SG as opposed to defending the PG position since most teams tend to run the offense through the PG.
Plus
At least Gil should be quicker than most SG’s in the League – and should be able to stay in front of them… He was killed last year by quick PG’s continually getting around him and into the paint….

Blatche...
Don’t forget what the new 2 guard offense does for Blatche. It gives him more of a go-to
position and responsibility. If used properly, it makes him more dangerous offensfively.
