Oh look another win.
I didn’t get to watch the game but I’m guessing that this solidifies the fact that the Celtics are “over the hill.”
What do you guys think?
We can be that good
when we play defense. Its all about the “want to”

bos is 4-6 in last 10 … not the way to head into the playoffs. their announcers commented last night that they have not played with any fire for weeks.

Seriously
Celts played poorly but this was one of the most recent games iv’e actually gotten to WACTH (living in Connecticut), and the Wiz kids’ defense was on point. The only reason for the relatively close margin is all the consecutive turnovers.
I guess we can tell our lottery hopes goodbye...
Wins are great, but tanking the last four games of a lost season to ensure getting the third best odds in the lottery instead of possibly the sixth is not a sin. I’m pretty irritated that we chose now to play like this.

You must have Enron bloodlines
Tanking is a sin, you are supposed to play the game to win, i’m hoping the Wiz win every game to end the season.
“Tanking can come back to bite you because there are always busts and draft position isn’t guarenteed (see last year). THERE IS ALWAYS QUALITY REGARDLESS OF POSITION IN THE DRAFT.”
Wizards pay people to find that quality, trust that they’ll do their job the same way the players are now. Great win.

I'm sorry but a quote like....
irritated that we chose now to play like this.
…irritates me. How do you not want to see your team play well, period. It’s not like more ping-pong balls guarantees a higher pick. We saw that last year. That is a losing mentality to tank, and most times it doesn’t work. Playing well will always pay off, if not in the draft lottery, but your young kids confidence going into next year. That quote just really rubs me the wrong way. I wanna see the Wiz win every night, and I hope we finish out the season on a winning streak!

I understand wanting to win
But I find myself torn. Ideally, we’d see the improvement that we’re seeing from Blatche, Livingston, and McGee (finally!) and still just barely get beat by a fantastic Boston squad playing on top of their game. It’s not all about the ping pong balls because even if that doesn’t happen, picking somewhere in 4-6 is better than picking somewhere between 8-10.
The most important thing right now though is that Blatche is continuing to play well, Livingston is really impressing, and Javale is even showing signs of improvement. The optimist in me thinks we could bring these guys back with Arenas and a decent draft pick and get more wins than losses next year.
I by no means like seeing the Wiz lose, and the development of our players is crucial to future success, I just would want to hedge our bet for future success in a high draft pick by emphasizing the development of our players over gunning for the win. By no means am I criticizing the players for giving their best efforts, and even Flip is simply doing his job by coaching to win, I just hope that our focus is on the future so we can build a solid team in the years to come.

The basketball gods shall repay us for playing to win.

I agree... and...
for those of you who think we should sign Shaun Livingston as a “backup” point guard, what think you now? He has seriosuly outplayed several of the league’s better starting PGs in recent games (that was Rajon Rondo last night, yes?) and he keeps getting better.
Blatche and Livingston are both only 24 and seem to be just reaching their primes. Nick Young and JVM are playing well. We have 3 draft picks in a relatively deep year. Thornton and Singleton provide valuable depth. Howard may come back cheap. And there is still Gil.
2010-11 looks good!
Livingston
He’s definitely surprising me with his scoring recently, but it’s still to early to say how good he can be. I think the correct approach is to sign him as if he’s going to be the backup next year. The problem is that he might just play himself right off the Wizards — if he does enough to impress other teams, I’m not sure the Wizards will be able to hang on to him.
I’m not sure how it’s going to work with Arenas next year. Remember that he’s currently untradeable and a complete head case. I won’t be surprised if Arenas starts at the point next year regardless of how strong a case Livingston makes for himself.
did we just kill our draft position??? why now?
