Randy Foye wins New Jersey community service award
However you feel about Randy Foye's play this year, there's no denying that he's a great, great guy who does a lot of outstanding work in the community. He runs a foundation, aptly named the Randy Foye Foundation, which is devoted to giving back in Foye's hometown of Newark. Programs include a mentoring program, a youth basketball camp, a food bank and a project to rebuild a local gym.
Earlier this week, Foye got some well-deserved recognition, winning the New Jersey Governors Jefferson Award in the category of Service to Youth. The state gives out 18 awards each year to a variety of participants who, according to their site, "through volunteer service, do extraordinary things for other people, their community, their nation, or the environment."
Congratulations to Randy on this honor!

Congrats Randy
what a great dude. if only he could drive into the lane and play above the rim.
Such an honor!!!!
I traveled to NJ for the lat game we played there against the Nets. In teh row behind us were a group of young kids cheering their hearts out for Randy Foye. It is great to see that his deeds, while not done for the glory, are recognized!
Congrats Randy Foye!!!!
This is nice for Randy....
… and perhaps the Nets would be a good team for him as the first guard off the bench…
