Is Gilbert Arenas any worse than Stephon Marbury?

I'm about as guilty as anyone when it comes to openly pining for a "real" PG

Star-divide

But, somehow, it escaped me until right now that Starbury was pretty damn good in his years under Flip. Steph averaged 17 points and 8.6 assists in his 3 years in Minny. I understand that Steph was more of a natural PG but does anybody think Gilbert can't run Flip's offense, go for 20 & 8 with a steal and at least get in somebody's way once in awhile? I still don't see Arenas as a max player (never have, and honestly, probably never will), but even with the knee, he's a pretty young 28. And, really, what are the chances we can move him anyway? If we can pull off a miracle and toss that contract, then I'm still all for it. But he might end up being our best option and, possibly, even a pleasant surprise.

a pretty young 28 indeed

I think he showed that with his immaturity this season. I like Arenas and he will still be a very effective player when he comes back. We will be a bad team next season with or without him, but it will definitely be more fun to watch with him.

Weird headline

Gilbert is a better player than Starbury in his prime, and while crazy, is a different kind of crazy. For some reason, if you asked, “Is Stephon Marbury any worse than Gilbert Arenas?” I might respond differently. I think everyone would agree that comparing both players in their primes Arenas is better. With the knee injury, I’d still argue he’s better. Marbury is a malcontent. Call Gilbert what you wish, but I wouldn’t call him a malcontent. He just poops in shoes and brings guns to practice. He doesn’t whine and complain about shots, teammates and coaches.

…except throwing Eddie Jordan, the medical staff, Caron Butler and Ernie Grunfeld under the bus, of course.

I guess I'm confused

because Steph never did anything?

gil has value to the team

obviously, if the wiz could void his contract it would in a second because he’s not worth anything close to what he’s being paid … that said, he’s still capable of being qualtiy fringe all star type player … there r worse things than having gil be on this team next year … granted, the idea that your two best players r gil and blatche is just asking for trouble but at least for next year that is probably the team’s best hope is be competitive

Am I in Bizarro world?

Or has everyone really forgotten 007 still faces sentencing on a repeat felony unlicensed handgun charge? In DC? I’ll poo myself if he avoids jailtime.

Actually his first gun charge was a misdemeanor

but I would also be very surprised if he gets off. In DC of all places. The question to me is not whether or not he will do time, but how much.

Actually, that makes me wonder

I’m thinking something like 180 days, suspended, so many hours of community service and a right decent fine. But how would Stern/the team treat suspended time?

You're giving Gil too little credit
does anybody think Gilbert can’t run Flip’s offense, go for 20 & 8 with a steal and at least get in somebody’s way once in awhile?

Of course he can do it!! Seeing as though he average 22.6 ppg, 7.2 assist, and 1.3 stls a games THIS year under Flip, after a 2 year layoff from a knee injury and he was definitely getting better before the suspension. He did that already, and with more of a comfort level, those numbers would definitely go up.

He will not run Flip's offense..will not have to...

John Wall or Shaun Livingston will run it and do a way better job than Gil could. He better start working on at least attempting to play defense.

so are you Flip's confidant?

or maybe some kind of secret insider? if Arenas is on the roster, he’s gonna be running the offense.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
