Talking about Andray Blatche would be too easy, so let's talk about James Singleton. When he first came to DC, I jokingly called him "Big Game James," as a silly reference to Hall-Of-Famer James Worthy. However, the nickname has stuck because he's been so good. Singleton comes in and gets the Wizards' second unit going with great energy plays, solid picks and great blocked shots. He's become a clubhouse leader and personifies the new Wizards: overlooked, scrappy and cast aside by their old teams.
Alas, with everything Wizards, Singleton sprained his ankle and has barely played the last two games. The Wizards have missed him badly in both games. I never thought I'd say that.

Singleton is like Dominic McGuire with polish...
Very solid pickup.
Lee said he will be back Wednesday
He’s fun to watch. Great energy and so fluid with his rebounding and blocked shots. As I mentioned, it’s so refreshing seeing OUR guy jump over defenders for boards.
The "Big Game James" nickname has stuck??!!
I thought we all agreed that he would be called, “Mancrush”??!!
I am so disappointed that name didn’t stick.
Also dissapointed we Lost Tosh Howard
and his nickname for the season.
And the possibility to make “legalize it” his catchphrase.
shine like bald head, smoke trees call me log head
Agreed!
We demand user polls! And maybe a contest! Nicknaming is a collaborative, community activity!

Mancrush....
Y’all are some funny dudes…. I LOVE how Singleton knows how block shots (hard!) w/o fouling… makes folks think twice when they see him the paint…
Mancrush lol
Really like Singleton
I was pretty impressed by Singleton when i saw him play extended minutes for the Paper Clips a few years ago. High energy and physical, and enough skill that you had to pay attention to him. I wondered why he never got more minutes.
His time with the Wiz show he can contribute meaningfully if given the chance. I scored very good seats to the recent Chicago game and saw up close how good he was. Whether it was a rebound, a steal or some other loose ball, he was almost always the first person to the ball when possession was in question. Those extra possessions are really valuable. Make a few jump shots and dunks too, and you’ve got a valuable player.

Loved the Phoenix section
People need to know more about Goran Dragic and what he’s doing this year….
BUT , REALLY Mike, Varejao?
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
He's annoying as hell, but those numbers don't lie
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
he maybe be a springy haired bamma
but no doubt the dude can play

i've always been a fan of Courtney Lee
he just has that maturity, poise, bball IQ and drive that we all wish NY had. i remember one game last year when Lebron blocked his dunk, and the next trip down the court he didn’t hesitate he just dunked in Lebron’s face. that takes some real guts. not to mention he plays solid D.
I agree. I have always like C-Lee too
I remember that exact play on lEbron.
You want Courtney Lee in your foxhole.

I guess I just never saw the big difference between him and, say, Afflalo
Lee’s playing a lot better recently though.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
youw atching kings/thunder?
good game

Yes
And yes.
Gotta say, Evans bothers me sometimes with his propensity to dominate the ball.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
well
afflalo isn’t doing too terrible himself, as you mentioned. But i’d say Lee’s offense is a lot more refined, he can score as a classic slashing guard. In Orlando he didn’t he didn’t get much of a chance to shine because the team was so deep, but for a rookie to crack Stan Van Gundy’s starting lineup in the Finals i’d say is a pretty significant achievement in and of itself. This year he’s been having trouble with his outside shot, but i think he’s starting to get it together and i think he’ll be an important piece for NJ going forward.

I dunno
Lee breaking into Stan Van’s rotation as a 23-year old rookie isn’t overly impressive to me. Both guys (Afflalo and Lee) are the same age and Afflalo’s playing arguably a bigger role on a contending team.
Lee’s more athletic than Afflalo, but I haven’t seen it manifest itself much in finishing around the rim. He can get there, but I didn’t see much upper body strength. That leaves him as mostly a jump-shooter and defender, much like Afflalo.
But Lee’s shot has really gotten better this month, like you said.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
guess we'll see what happens going forward
both guys can definitely ball, and maybe you’re right that there’s not much that separates the two but i’d argue that afflalo is pretty much there for defensive purposes and spot up shooting for denver, while Lee is becoming a central part of NJ’s offense because Brook and Harris definitely need the help and he can score. But maybe if they switched places there wouldn’t be much difference, who knows.

Your last line is pretty much the crux of my argument
But I’m getting to the point where I’m giving this crusade up.
Next crusade: Terrence Williams isn’t an NBA-quality player and will never be one.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
also
remember that he was pretty much unstoppable during our 2nd game vs. NJ in the first half, i remember he was just tearing up our defense. haha sorry for such a long winded rant but i’ve watched this guy play and i really like him, i really wish Nick had some of the mental toughness that Lee does.

Mayo is the one who missed the 2 free throws a few possessions before

Oh
Well I guess I got confused with Kobe’s game-tying three with 40 seconds left. That was Mayo.

Singleton is like Dominic McGuire with polish?
Um not really.
Thats like saying Jessica Album is 300 pound man with polish
Great Call on Serge Ibaka
people dont realize he is only 20 years old. And he has the frame to put on a lot more muscle.
The Thunder also have 2 first round picks. Lets say they parlay them into Cole Aldrich. An Ibaka/Aldrich front line is more than enough to take the Thunder from good to great.

I've honestly been wondering about whether OKC would be better down the road with Ibaka at PF instead of Jeff Green
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Like, if I'm OKC
(And I realize this takes time to figure out).
I’m considering sign and trading Green with picks for Bosh this summer.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Yeah, its really a tough call.
Because its not like Jeff Green has done anything to merit criticism, but it just doesn’t seem possible that a team will do much damage in the playoffs with him as their starting power forward.
Then again, he is playing alongside Krstic and Collison now, and they are winning. So who knows.
I think Ibaka must play 30 minutes next season, and the question is who will be playing alongside him.

he should be a 3, ideally
IMO

I'm not sure I agree with that
He’s too slow on both ends, and I actually think he defends 4s really well. It’s just that he disappears on offense.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
yeah i was going by size and shooting range really.
he looks way undersized against a lot of 4s to me.

Jeff sounds like AJ but with a better defensive upside...
If these descriptions are on target…. I would not mind havng him onmy team though!
He's not nearly the scorer Jamison is
Very good defender, but he’s pretty poor offensively.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Whoa, forget the defense
These numbers are staggeringly bad. Damn. He definitely looks like a good defender.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Numbers can deceive...
but so can gut instincts…
I think he is a nice player nonetheless, and while OKC may want to upgrade at PF some day, my guess is that they would not part lightly with Jeff.
His destiny may be as a first forward off the bench on a contending team.
