Simple poll: Who needs to get moved first
I've already talked about Antawn Jamison, and I'll have more on Caron Butler soon (hopefully by later today), but to pass the time between the two, a simple poll.

Jamison first, then Butler
Jamison needs to go so Blatche can start. The PF/Cs on the Wiz are in need of more playing time, more than any of the guys who play behind Butler. And Jamison’s contract is bigger.
its gotta be jamison… his contract/performance is only going to get worse and its very possible we are going to need to give caron away in order to get someone to take jamison. We trade caron first and we could be stuck with Jamison for the long haul, salary rollbacks or not his contract is going to be a giant boulder standing in the way of rebuilding.
VOID!!!
I voted Haywood
if I’m the GM of a contender, I want as much time working Haywood into my rotation as possible. This returns the best value, therefore putting the impression out that we won’t be screwed in a trade. This ups the ante on Caron and Jamison.

btw. is Atlanta looking to make moves? I think Haywood works best for that team

Haywood probably has the greatest potential value...
as trade bait now. Let’s see what we can get for him by way of expirings, draft choices or a decent young player (Rudy F ideally). AJ is next… his contract is a long-term poison pill. He will never be more valuable to us as a trading chip than right now, and he does deserve a shot at the ring.
Then we need to decide whether the Caron we saw two nights ago is the Caron we get if he is allowed to be our near term go-to guy. If so then he is too important to deal right this minute… I think he wants to stay and in almost any rebuilding plans, he make sense. His contract is more than reasonable for a second-tier all-star. He will not lose value over the coming year, as BTH and AJ will.
I voted Haywood for similar reasons.
The rebuilding process will be long – get the best assets you can. If AJ and Caron are here for the next two years – that’s okay but they’ll have to make way for the rebuilding.

I say Caron
but I say that under the premise that BOTH of them are going to be moved. The way I see it, Jamison is, and has always been, our most consistent player. He doesn’t have the peaks and valleys that Caron does, which means his trade value will be the same throughout the year. Caron, on the other hand, had lost some value before this past game. Whether he gained it back remains to be seen. So I say sell him high.
I say Mike Miller/Mike James to the Knicks for Curry/Jeffries/Whatever else we want
should be done immediately. We have nothing to lose.

I voted Butler
While Jamison is older and has a worse contract, Butler just doesn’t seem to fit into Saunders’s offense, and so if only one of them ends up leaving I’d prefer it be the guy who “doesn’t work.”
But also, I wonder if Jamison might have some trade value this offseason for a team like Cleveland. J.J. Hickson’s…surgence? means it’s less likely they’ll part with him, and they may be content to roll with what’s working so well. However, if they end up not winning the championship, I could see them try to trade for Jamison as the final enticement for LeBron James to stay there (in essence, finally giving him the player he’s reportedly always wanted) and also to give them some insurance in case James does leave. That also could be true of any other team that wants to sign James, I suppose.
Ridiculous Upside, where developing talent and winning are not mutually exclusive.
like others -
i said jamison due to the fact that he is ready to start getting nagging injuries and see his value plummet any time now.

I think everyone should go, but Jamison first...
Reasons:
Jamison first – There is only ONE team (Cleveland) that has shown any interest in Antawn. Make the deal quickly before Cleveland decides to go after Iguodala or Troy Murphy. In my dream trades post, I said I’d like to see a trade involving Jamison (and parts) to Cleveland for Ilgauskas + JJ Hickson + Daniel Green + Cleveland’s Unprotected 2011 First round pick. BUT, if it means making the deal quickly, I’d settle for a Jamison (+ part) for Ilgauskas + JJ HIckson (no Green, NO pick)…. That deal, more than any other must be done before the Wizards can start the rebuilding process.
Butler second – There are a number of teams that are (or could be) interested in Butler. Dallas, Houston, Miami, Chicago, LA Clippers, Nets, Milwaukee, and others… Let them come to Washington with their best offers. Wait until the Trade Deadline to pull the trigger on the best deal.
Haywood third – One of the intriguing trade scenarios I’ve heard is Butler and Haywood in a package to Houston for Tracy McGrady’s expiring contract…. I hope we get more for that package than just expirings…. If we move Haywood to Portland, Houston, Denver, New Orleans or even Dallas, I would expect to get back at least a young prospect (along with salary relief) – or a pick PLUS a prospect. Getting back an expiring salary for an expiring salary makes no sense..but getting an expiring contract and a pick sounds about right.
The Wizards have other “assets” -
Mike James
They could trade Mike James expiring contract for Jarred Jeffries ($6.6 Million this year, $6.9 Million next year) ….
but they would need to get something of value back… Like: James + Crittenton for Jeffries + Chris Douglas Roberts
or James for Jeffries + future 1st round pick.
Mike Miller
I would hate to see Mike Miller leave, but after this season, I doubt very seriously that he will want to stay in Washington. Might as well get something for him…. Again, New York might be a trading partner. They’re desperate to get rid of Eddy Curry ($10 Million this year, $11 Million next)… We could probably ask for a trade like this one:
Mike Miller + Stephenson for Curry + Hill + future 1st round pick.
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
another Jamison
Another Jamison trade:
Jamison + Stevenson for Ilgauskas and Powe
Saves the Wizards $3 Million this year, (and if I’m not mistaken, along with Arenas’ suspension, it takes them from a Tax payer to a tax receiver)…..
Obviously, I’d rather get something back from Cleveland than expiring contracts for Jamison, but if Hickson, or Green or a pick is obstructing the deal from getting done – just take them out of the equation.
I would guess that Cleveland would want us to buy out Ilgauskas – and my guess is that Cleveland would buy out Stevenson (so he never sees the court as a Cavalier)….
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
and more options for Haywood and/or Butler
How about a trade with Utah…. NO, not for Boozer…
Here are a couple:
1. Haywood for the Matt Harpring Trade Excepton + Utah’s 2nd round pick
Utah needs some interior help defense – as Boozer is just a poor defender, and Okur is not much of a shot blocker
Washington gets immediate salary relief FOR THIS YEAR….
2. Butler & Haywood for Andrei Kirilenko + NY’s unprotected first round pick
Butler would do very well in Utah’s motion offense (similar to the Princeton, with lots of cuts)… because Caron is one of the best cutters in the game – - – and unlike Ronnie Brewer (Utah’s only real wing threat), Caron CAN shoot the ball – so they can’t lay off him.
Kirilenko is obviously not worth his immense salary, so to take him, the Wizards would need incentive (ie: the Knicks First round pick)… Andrei’s salary does not go beyond next year – so he won’t interfere with the rebuilding process.
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
more on number 2
Two top 5 picks (the Wizards pick and the NY pick ) give the Wizards higher odds of getting a franchise player (John Wall , Evan Turner or Derrick Favors)…..
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
Utah's trying to get under the tax, so that first one's a no-go
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Oh please lord let number 2, happen
I would drive Butler and Haywood to Dulles airport myself to make that happen. Is it easier to get the Knicks pick because it probably won’t have but the 5 or 6th most lottery balls?

I don't get it
Why would we trade expirings for Curry’s or Jeffries’ bad contracts? To trade them as expirings next year? That just seems like putting off the opportunity for cap space while throwing money away.
Also, Douglas-Roberts isn’t on the Knicks.
Otherwise, I agree with this order. Jamison has to go first because he’s the hardest to trade, and the most important to get rid of.
I want Jamison gone, gone, gone
But I’m actually starting to really worry that we won’t make any trades. Still got some time but I don’t know I’m such a pessimist these days. I need a new team – go Utah???
