Wizards fall apart down the stretch in loss to Knicks

Yeah, I know this game sucked, but the Wizards have several built-in excuses.  This was the last game of a long road trip, so they were probably tired. They also played last night, and it's their fourth game in five nights.  Meanwhile, the Knicks were well-rested and had the tremendous energy of the home crowd inspiring them, not to mention that they're among the league's best home teams and a definite championship contender.

I hold all that to be the truth, the full truth and nothing but the truth.

this is off topic but i just noticed it

shouldn’t it be “a beacon of light AMIDST the darkness?”

AP Style says you never write "amidst" when you could write "amid"

Or maybe it was just my college newspaper’s style.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

haha ok

can’t argue w/ the style book

From three wins in four games to that recap, and all of it justified. This is why I’m not here that often anymore. It hurts too much to watch.

Mike, bless you for being able to follow this team.

Jake would have to cue it up

I’m probably too close to the team now to get away with that stuff.

I'll see what I can do this weekend

I’ll probably keep in the FanPosts but I’ll try and think of something.

is it a sin

that our lottery chances matter more to me right now than winning our games? dark times…

by mr. 91 on Feb 3, 2010 9:49 PM EST reply actions

seriously...

and i distinctly remember thinking last year that it couldn’t get much worse…

by mr. 91 on Feb 3, 2010 9:53 PM EST up reply actions

yep

Hopefully this season won’t end up being “all for naught” like last season may. I mean, I love what Mike Miller brings to the team, but I’m not sure he’s gonna be here next year. As for Foye, he is more a complimentary player than a “building block.” And there’s a good chance he won’t be back either, which means we will have suffered through last year, earning a lottery birth, for absolutely nothing.

5/20 on 3s, only 7 FTs, a measly 13 assists...

…when will this team learn discipline, patience, and the basics of teamwork? Is Flip ineffective or is this team just too thick headed to learn how to play ball?

by dogshammdog on Feb 3, 2010 9:51 PM EST reply actions

honestly, there is no 'team' at this point

there’s a bunch of demoralized players, who have no clue what their futures hold. all they know is that shit fell apart amazingly fast and everyone is kind of shell-shocked.

Exactly, they don't share the ball

This team doesn’t really have a point guard. Neither Foye nor Boykins particularly enjoy sharing the ball and would much rather shoot than set teammates up for buckets. The only guy who could really be considered unselfish is Mike Miller, and he should probably shoot more, which seems to make sense on this weird team. Even Stevenson keeps chucking up bricks (why exactly is he on the court?) despite the fact that he’s shooting 28 percent.

There certainly wasn't much talking from the sideline...

…or during timeouts. Things ain’t going well when the coach behaves like he’s given up.

aside from the fact

that we lost, am I the only one that was a little excited to see Blatche, Young, and McGee on the court at the same time?

by CJHutch on Feb 4, 2010 12:54 AM EST reply actions

I was not

McGee played maybe the worst defense i’ve seen this season behind Arenas and Jamison. I did want to see him get some touches on offense but Nick Young and Blatche continued to isolate and take jumpers.
