We just saw this team, so this preview's going to be brief.  Since we last saw them, the Knicks lost by 21 points to Minnesota, so times aren't good in Gotham City.

As mentioned earlier today, Caron Butler won't play tonight because his left knee swelled up overnight.  He originally hurt it in a collision with Paul Pierce on Monday, on a play with .8 seconds left in the first half that wasn't going to decide anything.  I'll step down the ledge from my earlier "wtf no MRI" snide comment; as Kyle pointed out, you can't get an MRI until the swelling stops.  At the same time, we know this team's history with injuries, and you'd hate for them to mishandle it and cause teams to get scared off from trading for Butler.

Of course, the conspiracy theorists will say Butler's being held out precisely because he's about to be traded.  That's a fun theory, I won't lie.

I'm guessing Nick Young replaces Butler in the lineup.  If that's not true, I'll update. Nevermind, Stevenson's starting. Psshhhhhh.

Anyway , 7:30 start, because New York is different.

GO WIZARDS!

Knicks tanking, get Utah GM on the phone!!!

Fine, Boozer can come as long as he brings his friend Mr. Unprotected Knicks draft pick with him.

Blech on starting DeShawn

Blech blech blech.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Knicks have a good game plan defensively

Play 5 defenders on 4 Wizard’s players – leaving Stevenson completely alone…..

Wow - what a great end of quarter play

Dribble the ball for 12 seconds, and then throw a bad pass to Jamison with only 2 seconds left on the shot clock…..

McGee?

Who is that?

he's untouchable, remember?

so like you can’t even take him out of the protective plastic packaging for risk of getting him scratched up.

Nice move Dray

Why anyone goes for his up and under move, I’ll never understand.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

To end the third:

Miller, for young, with long three

Just wanted to point out Nick's great defensive effort on Gallinari...

resulted in a nice block.

NY also with the extra pass to MM for the open three.

Saw both of those...

also saw 72 year old Larry Hughes drive around Nick after a weak pump fake….

jamison is our hardest player to trade at this point (gil not included)

due to age and contract…especially if we are trying to get any value back.

i suggest we unload his contract to the only team who will pay – the cavs….ASAP

by arijordan on Feb 3, 2010 8:36 PM EST reply actions

just read it

if grunfeld can pull that off, he is my hero and i will take back all the crap i have said about him

by arijordan on Feb 3, 2010 8:41 PM EST up reply actions

Wow Foye

Wow Jamison.

Haywood’s wide open and you both ignore him. Way to reward the big.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on Feb 3, 2010 8:57 PM EST reply actions

I wish our best young players weren't centers

because i really like Haywood, but since we’re not gonna be a contender anytime soon i guess it’s better to trade him to let Blatche and McGee develop

by FNFWizardsFan on Feb 3, 2010 8:59 PM EST reply actions

Time to get the bench in and re-take the lead

Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......

by Rook6980 on Feb 3, 2010 9:08 PM EST reply actions

Wiz have to stop playing Jamison...

I mean, he’s 2-6 with 6 points and 4 rebounds….

Every time he has a bad game like this, or the last few games, his trade value goes down….

Fake a slight ankle sprain or something….

Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......

by Rook6980 on Feb 3, 2010 9:12 PM EST up reply actions

If he keeps this up...

Instead of proudly hoisting a Championship trophy with Cleveland….. he’ll be the elder statesman on a team full of young guys… (probably his idea of Hell)

Chandler's an interesting player

I’m having trouble figuring out what I think of him.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on Feb 3, 2010 9:16 PM EST reply actions

I think he's a natural SF, but

NY Plays him frequently at PF…. so it’s difficult to judge him… he gets overpowered by stronger PF’s….

But he’s definitely a super athletic guy….

Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......

by Rook6980 on Feb 3, 2010 9:18 PM EST up reply actions

Knicks have a strange roster....

Lots of guys playing out of position…

Lee is a PF, playing Center
Gallanari is a SF playing PF sometimes.
Jeffries plays all over the place
and Chandler plays some PF, some SG and some SF (but he’s a natural SF- that’s an easier guard for him….)

Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......

by Rook6980 on Feb 3, 2010 9:22 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah - especially on Offense...

but they have to guard someone….

and that’s where they get mismatched sometimes…

Gallanari, and Chandler are both better guarding SF’s
Lee is better guarding PF’s
Jeffries is best guarding perimeter players (SF, SG)

But all of those guys guard bigger, stronger players at times; out of necessity

shades of Isiah Thomas

he always wanted a team of “players” who could do a lot of things well and be interchangeable.

by Pryme on Feb 3, 2010 9:27 PM EST up reply actions

Shoot the ball Mike!

There are two seconds left on the shot clock. Two seconds!

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Mike Miller of the Wizards wants to be known as more than a shooter

It’s like the movie Major League Two when Charlie Sheen started throwing half-ass curveballs and sliders instead of just fastballs (which is what he was good act).

by Pryme on Feb 3, 2010 9:20 PM EST up reply actions

Personally

I think he’d be better off channeling his inner “Wild Thing” so opposing players remember why they should be sticking him and not expecting him to pass

by Pryme on Feb 3, 2010 9:25 PM EST up reply actions

Mike Miller with the Eddie Jordan defense

Help on Jared Jeffries driving to the basket, leaving Danilo Gallinari wide open for three.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Do younger generations even know the sound of a needle getting ripped off a record anymore?

by bronco6778 on Feb 3, 2010 9:26 PM EST reply actions

I just hope he goes to a team that can really win it all, I don’t even care if it’s Cleveland. He gave us too much to sulk about his eventual destination. And if he brings back Hickson…

by bronco6778 on Feb 3, 2010 9:32 PM EST up reply actions

Time to suspend him again

Time to start blaming the young guys

for the unprofessional attitude -

THAT’s why this team is losing….

Rook,

Have you tried calling EG with your trade ideas yet? Why hasn’t he pulled the trigger?

Sincerely,
Craig

Oh god, this game is getting unwatchable.

by bronco6778 on Feb 3, 2010 9:32 PM EST reply actions

Miller's the only guard/foward willing to drive

yet you know he’s gonna just pass the ball…

by Pryme on Feb 3, 2010 9:36 PM EST reply actions

They quit

No other way to put it.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on Feb 3, 2010 9:36 PM EST reply actions

They did quit

The last few minutes of basketball were ridiculous. Everybody was just out there doing their own thing.

so

when do we get to see JaVale again…?

NJ is bad...

but at least they have some nice young pieces – and they are PLAYING them…..

Good thing Oberto is getting these garbage minutes instead of Mcgee

Cuz we really want Oberto to develop and get better, he’s our future, Javale can wait

by FNFWizardsFan on Feb 3, 2010 9:41 PM EST reply actions

yeah, i realized that to late

still no need for Oberto to be in though in my opinion. Our garbage time lineup should be Foye, Young, Dom, Blatche, and Javale

by FNFWizardsFan on Feb 3, 2010 9:50 PM EST up reply actions

you know what would be nice?

if the wizards could defend, like, ONE NY drive…

by mr. 91 on Feb 3, 2010 9:42 PM EST reply actions

WHEW

Thank god the Wizards pulled that loss out. I was getting worried about them screwing up their lottery chances.

by CJHutch on Feb 3, 2010 9:43 PM EST reply actions

Did that just happen?

I thought I was confused after watching “Lost” last night. Jeez…
