Wizards lose to Knicks in crazy overtime game

I'll be honest: I'm just happy this one is over, even if the Wizards lost.

At least they've caught us in draft position.

Good try guys.

The best game for the Wizards now is the close, exciting match that ends in a big 'L'

No sense deluding management that they’re a contender. And, better chances in the draft.

agreed

I was totally pleased with this game. Lot of positive signs from our young guys. Blatche looks great, and I don’t mind the turnovers because most of those are coming from the new double-teams being thrown at him. Javale is improving, though he still has plenty of work to do. Thornton looked good too. And a the end of the day, that one loss could improve our draft position by a full spot.

Now we just need to hope Singleton is alright.

Yep, satisfactory if sad

They ran out of gas (and players… which is pretty much the same thing) at the end.

And as I said last night, I’m still glad we did not wind up getting Harrington. Last thing we need atthis stage is anothe me-first player.

I was watching the Cleveland-Toronto game while following the wizzies on gamecast. Jamison actually played more minutes than King Crab. But the guy who impressed me was Jarrett Jack, who is a good, big, point guard and did the same thing to Mo Williams that he did to us the other day.

gas

Is this the experience that finally turns on the switch for Blatche? If he expects to do this for a full season he has to prepare for it. during the offseason.

Meh

A good game for the growing pains of our young wizards

Blatche shoots 11-21

and his shooting % for the last 6 games DROPS 3 percentage points !!!

26 points, 18 rebouns, 6 assists, 3 blocks and a steal….. not a bad line
(I’d like to see fewer than 8 Turn Overs, though)

did mcgrady sit the entire 4th Quarter?

kind of a side issue – but that’s weird. i’m sure they’re monitoring his minutes and all, but he was playing really well.

did anyone catch the interview with Robert Pollin?

He sounded like he wanted to keep Gilbert (or maybe was resigned to keeping Gilbert…i couldn’t quite tell).

Is it nice or sad that ...

We our paying our best player $3.5/yr for the next two years, but that its Andray Blatche

Was the wierdest game ever. The refs made so many calls it actually gave me a headache it was like natzy referring on steroids and acid. Unenjoyable

by Unxpekted on Feb 26, 2010 10:42 PM EST reply actions

yeah

but they also missed plenty of travels. I sweat Rodriguez walks everytime he gets the ball. I know they caught some of them. They probably got tired of calling them.

horrible free throw shooting + no singleton

caused this loss.

they lost their best defensive option on Lee early in the game

and shot under 60% on free throws.

you had me

you had me at Singleton. If he plays the Wiz win.

by Jheiser3 on Feb 27, 2010 11:34 AM EST up reply actions

I agree

poor free throw shooting or no, the energy definitely dipped when Singleton left. And he would’ve slowed down Harrington.

by CJHutch on Feb 27, 2010 12:43 PM EST up reply actions

agree again

still they got robbed by the HORRIBLE calls at the end of the game.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Hard to believe

The Wizards had so much more optimism just a couple months ago. Who could have possibly predicted such a meltdown? I could see a breakdown, but this smells like Oregon Duck.

D-Steve played 25 min and got a plus/minus of -23

No one else on the team had more than a -6. Some how playing Stevensons dead corpse for two quarters they still won by 8 in overtime. How does Stevenson do it? Really I want to know.

He must have a home video of Cuban and Pollin doing it

No other explanation. He blackmails his time in the NBA.

Deshawn Stevenson shut down Kobes primary offense in their win against the Lakers. Let the Deshawn hate but if the guys offense was going no one would talk, he had a back injury and his shot never came back. His shot is horrid, he angles his back in an uncomfortable matter and kind of jumps in an akward position im not surprised he always misses.

by Unxpekted on Feb 27, 2010 2:10 AM EST reply actions

That awkward motion predates last year’s back injury.

by MR on Feb 27, 2010 5:40 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, Stevenson had a weird-looking outside shot to begin with

Like he was tilting sideways during the release. Dallas is no stranger to weird shooters, though. Shawn Marion, for example..
