are you serious
with everything going on right now, THIS is what the NBA has to worry about?!?! Ridiculous…
Truly a decision worth of the N(o)F(un)L(eague)
"It has come to the editor’s attention that the Herald-Leader neglected to cover the civil rights movement. We regret the omission."
I'm glad
I’ve always feared that someday he was going to get hit and as a result choke on one of those things. Plus, chewing plastic all the time can’t be good for your health.
funny, isn't it
that they do this now that he is on a “more relevant” team? Now that he’ll be on national TV a lot more, they probably felt like they had to curb this behavior. Now, if he was chewing straws with the official NBA logo….
One of the reasons is the I agree with Jerry West about the fact the NBA has too many franchises and besides the top 8 teams, the product of the teams put on the court every night is not very good.
And Stern wants to create more franchises, In Europe!
And Also there wasnt a way for stern to help keep the sonics in seattle or the hornets in Charllotte. Both teams who were very popular. And creating the Vancouver and Toronto franchises were so pointless.

He isnt flawless, but ppl tend to forget that he is a players commissioner. When they went to those weird material much cheaper balls, the players complained, and instead of saying, too bad you’ll get used it cuz this saves us so much money. He swallowed some pride and had them pulled. He’s handled the ref gambling issues appropriately and taken necessary precautions to try and prevent it moving forward. And has done a great job at expanding NBA borders.
He completely mis-handled the new ball thing and pissed off the players by NOT consulting them in the first place.
He successfully quashed the ref gambling issues which I think was a mistake.

If he was HALF as bad as your acting like he is, he would of been have been relieved of his position as the commish. To act like he is the worst ever is crazy and clearly sippin from the hater-ade
He's very successful
that doesn’t make him good from a fan’s perspective.
He’s made the NBA grow and made the league more valuable and made a lot of money. That’s not my criteria.
He promotes and markets individual players over teams. He lets terrible officiating run rampant and squashes any discussion of it because the favoritism system benefits him. He whitewashed real investigation of corruption among officials. He has a top down, extremely heavy handed, extremely controlling style of management. He follows the dollar over the integrity of the game and the league. He’s allowing the league(s) to get too close to gambling and organized crime.
I think those are pretty good reasons. Why do you like him?

The number of franchises is fine
Maybe it wasn’t ten years ago, but there are really good players who can’t get any minutes on teams even now.
I also can’t blame Stern for the Seattle/Charlotte stuff. Not his fault those owners were/are jerks.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
You can definitely blame Stern for Seattle.
Along with a lot of other people.

This.
No mistakes in the tango, Donna. Not like life. Simple. That's what makes the tango so great. If you make a mistake, and get all tangled up, you just tango on.....
I'm not sure Donald Sterling is a human being. He had to have been manufactured by someone, possibly David Stern, so that one team could solely just make profit for the NBA while doing nothing good for themselves. -- Aykis 16
Bettman
Is by far the worst. He has a sport with transcendent superstars in Crosby and Ovechkin, then a slew of very talented young skaters in Kane, Malkin, Toews, Backstrom, Semin, Staal and many western conference players I am forgetting. Highest ratings for the SC since like 1973. And a few games a week are not available on a national broadcast? What a joke.
Yeah Charles said he was playing for the NBDL all these years and he’s just entering the NBA. On TNT CB admitted to drinking a 6 pack of Dew everyday. Sounds like a kid’s dream diet too me.

In fairness
When do you think was the last time Stern actually watched a Bullets game?
Ridiculous!
Guns, now straws? The NBA needs to lighten up! Gil was right! :)
My swag was phenomenal.
I guess when the original straw story broke 3-4 years ago the Wizards weren’t relevant enough to crack down on.
They’ve been working on the environmental impact study since then. Just wrapped it up.

There are actually companies that make biodegradable straws, cups, knives, forks, etc.
