I Appreciate the Good-Bye Note
But I’m still a little bit frustrated by Caron’s play here the past two seasons. What happened? I still don’t quite get it. I don’t know for sure, but it seemed to me his effort and dedication were a bit lacking this season for us. Regardless, I hope he can snap out of it with the Mavericks and return to form at some point, since I think he is a good guy at heart.

This is on the to-do list for me
I had a post idea ready to go for him when he was traded, but haven’t gotten around to actually writing it.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
It was quitting the Mt. Dew
I seriously wonder about this.
I don't think it is that complicated
I think Caron simply started thinking of his strengths and role as a basketball player as A, B, and C, when in truth his real strengths and optimal role as a basketball player were D, E and F. Gilbert’s injury created the environment for it to happen, in that the team needed Caron to be more of a scorer and more ball-dominant. But Caron then started believing, “This is who I am.” And when Gilbert came back and Flip installed his offense, Caron was reluctant and perhaps incapable (mentally or physically, I’m not sure) of adjusting his role and his approach to the game. Ignoring the final play Saunders drew up in the Dallas game was the most public and defiant demonstration of his mental struggle. I feel for him, in part, because who among us hasn’t had an identity crisis of some sort, only we don’t have it in the public eye like Caron did.
An illuminating quote along these lines — when Dallas reporters asked Butler what he could bring to the Mavs, his immediate response was “Scoring the basketball.” Sorry, Caron — but that’s not your #1 skill.

Good Points
That’s what I thought too. But even when Gilbert was out in 2007-08, when Caron had his best season, he attacked the basket more and with more efficiency (not so many travels, charges, shots getting blocked). Now it seems he has fallen in love with his hesitation jumper, attacks the basket less, and when he does attack the basket he often turns the ball over. Wouldn’t he realize that what he is doing is not working? And furthermore, why doesn’t his moves to the basket work so well anymore?

I remember complaining on mostly deaf ears in 2007/08 that Caron wasn't getting enough FT opportunities
Maybe the deaf ears part is wrong though.

Imagine you helped carry this team for two years,
Only to have to answer questions about a guy that you, apparently, can’t stand and then deal with the media crush on him when he finally suits up again. I get that people should be above stuff like that, but it’s gotta wear on you at some point. Maybe he just hit his limit with it and the situation. I hope he lights it up in Dallas.
Classy
Although we had to trade him, CB is a classy individual; a real role model for our kids.
Good luck against the Lakers tonight
