Utah and Miami have recruited Wiz to be 3rd team in Boozer talks. Wash would get cap relief out of it. Beasley not involved, source says.

Adrian Wojnarowski. Cap relief? We don't need more cap relief. Picks picks picks!

UPDATE: Woj quotes an executive saying this three-way deal is going nowhere. Oh well.

Heat being awfully protective of 2 mid first round picks. They’re trying to build a title contender. Those picks won’t get minutes.

Ick

No thanks, unless we get the picks.

Its always Roger Mason (Jr.) time!

And from Woj at Yahoo - he tweeted.... twittered..... twitted?

I like Chalmers

Good young PG, with some defensive skills…. on a very cheap contract. (I wanted the Wiz to draft Chalmers in the 2nd round that year… either he or Kyle Weaver)

I'm not too impressed.

I don’t like taking on young guys who aren’t very good just for the sake of taking on young guys. Lets get some talent please.

Stein tweeted

Sources close to the situation tell ESPN.com that all three teams have reached agreement on deal to send T-Mac to New York

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:15 PM EST reply actions

The deal

T-Mac and Sergio Rodriguez to NYK; Kev Martin/Jared Jeffries/swap of 2011 first with Knicks and 2012 first from Knicks to Houston and Kings get Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey and Larry Hughes’ expiring contract.

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:16 PM EST up reply actions

For what?

Galinari and their 2014 and 2016 first rounder? Knicks’ cupboard is bare.

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:28 PM EST up reply actions

I should have read my own post

I didn’t realize that Hill wasn’t part of the deal. Knicks still have two young forwards they can give up. But do they need more cap space?

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:31 PM EST up reply actions

How did they get away with that?

They downgraded Landry for a guy who is still pretty talented and got Kevin Martin as a throw in

by hibachi on Feb 18, 2010 1:41 PM EST up reply actions

It's infuriating

There’s no reason Wiz shouldn’t have been able to receive a similar deal.

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:42 PM EST up reply actions

I was going to write that

But I guess NY wanted McGrady. The Wizards had similar expirings and talent, but not McGrady.

by disgrunted on Feb 18, 2010 1:43 PM EST up reply actions

Ernie is the anti Morey

do you think he thought for a second to pick up the phone and call the knicks and say he’ll give them the cap relief they need for half the price … wiz have plenty of cap space for next year and likely wont be a major player, whats the hard of taking jeffries and getting a pick or hill out of the deal .

by wizfan2247 on Feb 18, 2010 1:44 PM EST up reply actions

Twitter is kind of hilarious

Because ESPN left Hill out of their tweet by accident. Then every other sportswriter copied them claiming their own sources. Then ESPN corrected their tweet to add Hill, and every other sportswriter had to pretend they made the exact same mistake.

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:47 PM EST up reply actions

My idea

From twitter: Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem to Utah, Boozer to Miami, Kyle Korver, Mario Chalmers and 2010 1st (TOR pick) to DC.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

by Mike Prada on Feb 18, 2010 1:16 PM EST reply actions

Yes please. Any way we can steal Beasley out of this though?

I know he’s kind of a knucklehead but at least he’s talented.

by hibachi on Feb 18, 2010 1:22 PM EST up reply actions

I'll settle for Chalmers....

I like Mario a lot (as a backup PG)

by Rook6980 on Feb 18, 2010 1:24 PM EST up reply actions

meh

He hasn’t really improved since last year and I just don’t think he’s all that great. I would take him as a 3rd pg but anything more than that, whatever.

I would hate to see Mike Miller go at this point

He seemed to be the glue that kept our team together last night against the T-Wolves.

by TheRealBigMike on Feb 18, 2010 1:27 PM EST up reply actions

I'm not sure 20 win teams need glue guys

But if he helps the young guys develop then he does have value

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:29 PM EST up reply actions

Miller doesn't strike me as a leader

A good, unselfish follower, but not a leader.

by disgrunted on Feb 18, 2010 1:31 PM EST up reply actions

If we play the rest of the season like we did last night, will definitely win more than 20 games

I see absolutely no point in tanking on the season, Washington has absolutely no luck in the draft. Anything higher than a 5 or 6 pick is a pipe dream.

by TheRealBigMike on Feb 18, 2010 1:33 PM EST up reply actions

Realism

Is any trade scenario plausible other than one where we get pillaged except from the Pollin’s myopic 2009-2010 cap perspective realistic?

by morethesamewiz on Feb 18, 2010 1:37 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I'm not sure there's anything left to pillage

Who do we have that teams would want other than for their expiring contracts? It’s not like we’re going to lose all our talent.

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:39 PM EST up reply actions

Maybe...

I can see Utah wanting Miller. They need someone who can play the 2

by Dalp on Feb 18, 2010 1:41 PM EST up reply actions

And they need 3-point shooting

Funny how

We were screaming for Blair, Hickson and Chalmers on draft night as they slipped and slipped and slipped.

Cap Relief ? GILBERT ?

by eltacoman on Feb 18, 2010 1:30 PM EST reply actions

I Think They Mean This Year

So they probably should have said, “Salary relief.”

This trade works too…

Mike Miller + Beasley to Utah
Boozer + Mcguire to Miami
Chalmers + Haslem to Washington

Miami can throw in Draft pick(s) to Utah….

Washington gets a young PG and another $2.5 Million savings this year

Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......

by Rook6980 on Feb 18, 2010 1:42 PM EST up reply actions

I know...

I’d ask for a First round pick…. but I know who is running the show in DC (it’s Irene Polin) – so I know that saving money is the #1 priority – not the product.

we don’t need Ernie around here. lol

Picks to us please

Enough with the savings. If anything those Miami picks should be coming to us.

by Dalp on Feb 18, 2010 1:44 PM EST up reply actions

I agree

except I’m not running the Wizards… I think Mike Miller (the number 1 three point shooter in the League) is worth at least a Mid-First round pick….

but I also know who is running the Wizards -and as a fan, I’d settle for Chalmers…

Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......

He's probably not worth a first round pick.

He’s kind of old and not locked up after this year.

From Woj

Just talked to one GM who says Miami calling to lay ground work for pre-draft and summer trades. Don’t seem like they’re doing deal now.

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:55 PM EST reply actions

New Plan for NY Knicks trade

After they fail at getting any big name Free Agents to come to NY City….. (LeBron stays in Cleveland; Bosh goes to Dallas; Wade stays put in Miami; Nowitzki stays in Dallas)……….. The Knicks will need marquee players…

Then Washington swoops in with the following trade deal:

Arenas for Eddy Curry + Gallinari + picks

Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......

by Rook6980 on Feb 18, 2010 1:55 PM EST reply actions

Wizards make a freakin good trade now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET US A GOOD PICK !!!!!!!!!

All we are accomplishing

is getting more frustrated by the lack of vision (forced or not) by the front office. There are so many ways to improve this team, but we’re not going to add 2010 salary.

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 1:59 PM EST up reply actions

BIg Z
for
Erick Dampier
isn’t his contract similar to Howards where the team has the option… wouldn’t it be valuable come Draft time

From Woj

A front office executive involved in Carlos Boozer three-way discussion with Miami, Utah and Wash: “It’s not going anywhere right now.”

by Palace of Good Play's Golden Toilet on Feb 18, 2010 2:04 PM EST reply actions

From ESPN

One version of the proposed deal would have sent Boozer and Washington’s Mike James to Miami, Haslem and Richardson to Utah from Miami and Miami’s Carlos Arroyo, Utah’s Kyrylo Fesenko and perhaps another player to the Wizards.

Yet one source said that Miami’s Michael Beasley and Mario Chalmers were also discussed along with Utah’s Kyle Korver.

Its always Roger Mason (Jr.) time!

I think they make exceptions for trades in progress.

Or something like that. So trades can be finalized as long as they’re initiated before the deadline.

by jones-y on Feb 18, 2010 3:48 PM EST up reply actions

The way EG explained it today

As long as you get the trade into the NBA office by 3, you’re good. It then goes on a docket and they spend the rest of the afternoon on calls completing trades.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
