Here is Antawn Jamison's pre-game speech from last night, via the Wizards' website. It really says all you need to know about what he brings to the team as a leader.

The Captain

That’s probably the first thing that I’ve heard that has made some sense!
“We’ve made some mistakes and we’re going to do everything we can to be as positive as possible and right this ship” paraphrasing of course…

I’m glad Jamison came out and said all that, it should be broadcast all over the local airwaves!

I just hope the ship ain’t be sinkin’ and it’s too late!

I'd hope they'd wait on trading Jamison after this

He says, “As long as i’m your captian….”

I think they need him from a pr perspective for the next few weeks, at least. I can’t imagine them moving him to Cleveland right now.

im torn about trading AJ..

.. on one hand, his trade value is at its peak.. he’s in the back 9 of his NBA career..we could get quality young players and draft picks..and he deserves to go to a team contending for a championship..

. on the other hand, he is such a character guy…he’s now the best player on the team..and being in the weak eastern conference..we have a chance (small chance) of sneaking into the 8th spot. (But then again, we probably get swept in 4 games)

Antwan needs a ring more than anyone and deserves it.

As much as I've bashed players and Wiz management this week

It’s only fair to say how impressed I am with this speech. Antawn’s class doesn’t make up for all the stupid behavior, but it certainly starts the process of putting it behind the organization.

It's a nice sentiment

but seeing that picture part of that statement rings a little hollow. Nonetheless it was a very classy move on Antawn Jamison’s part. And I still want him traded. If they can get value for him then do it because his contract doesn’t help the rebuilding process either.
