Was this just a bad outing

or the beginning of “Me-Ball?”

by Pryme on Jan 22, 2010 9:18 PM EST reply actions

exactly

this is what sucks about the rebuild/blow it up. there are actual games. which is the primary thing to watch as a fan. and they are going to be horri-awful. butler, jamison and haywood can’t help but sulk and try and get theirs, and the young players are going to be totally undisciplined since the season is lost anyways.

yep

it’s tough – it’s easy to get pissed off at each player, and i do, especially watching the games. but man, i also understand all of the frustration and why they are not into ‘team first’ attitudes.
everything has gone 100% opposite of the plan, in most unexpected ways. the arenas thing is absurd, from a macro level, really bizarre.
think about it – this season has unraveled, and none of it is due to injury.

i missed the game...

… did our defensive effort from the Mavs game transfer over to tonite?

by CVC on Jan 22, 2010 9:23 PM EST reply actions

I only caught bits and pieces of the first half, and that run right at the beginning of the third..

… but what I saw was a team hustling to get out of a big hole, and working hard on both ends — particularly Dray & Foye… when I had to leave, Caron had taken 5-6 shots in a row and hit them, and the lead had been cut to 12.

What happened? Total collapse?!

The Miami Heat

Remembered they were playing the worst defensive team in the NBA, and decided to just pass the ball until they found the wide open guy right underneath the rim. Once they remembered that they could do that, they went on like a 30-5 run and put the game away.

Oh, and I only remember Caron hitting about 3 shots, and getting fouled on another two. After that he went back to sucking.

Yeah, you're right

hit one or two of those ridiculous jumpers that he makes harder than they need to be, then it seemed like he was wising up and attacking the rim.

Is Flip Going to Make It?

I can’t see how a coach with a winning record and winning reputation like Flip can stand coaching this bunch of losers. I wouldn’t have been surprised if he benched everybody in the 3rd quarter tonight and then turned to the stands and asked for 5 fans to play. I heard from Buchantz that it was Family Night tonight. I do not consider that performance to be family friendly. The parents ought to sue the Wizards for physically abusing their children’s eyes.

The Wizards ought to forfeit their remaining games and refund all future purchased tickets. It’s the only honorable thing to do. The players have already decided to mail this season in. The team should make it official.

Luckily

I just watch the games on TV. I haven’t spent any money on this team this season. I was going to go to a few games, but I’d rather spend my money on more productive ventures. Like using it for toilet paper.

Sucks

If you don’t live in the DC area and you don’t follow any of the other teams.

I actually

am starting to feel bad for Flip. The guy already had that “saggy jowled” look when he got here. Now he looks like he’s aged 10 years. It has to be hitting him hard to know what he’s dealing with. He really thought that he was coming to a contender; at team built to win now and for the net 2-3 years; and now he has this to deal with.

Right now, it’s like limbo. We all keep talking about blowing the team up, but who knows for sur eif that will happen this year. I highly doubt we will get offers of equal value for our vets. Teams know we’re swimming upstream, so we pretty much have to take whatever rope is thrown to us.

When I started following this team...

… it was watching hard luck guys like Jeff Malone and Bernard kill themselves for 48 minutes just for the chance to have a shot at a game winner against the Nets, Bucks, and Cavs.

You knew they were terrible, you knew guys were going for theirs and trying to play their way into contracts with winning teams (but rarely did). Mostly, you waited for the superstars to come to town and you hoped we’d steal one, embarrass the big name teams and players.

I now live 1500 miles away and can’t just turn on CSN and watch the games (some nights DirecTV gives ‘em to me, depending on who we’re playing, though) but I’ve kinda gone back to that mode, mentally.

It’s all about expectations ;) When they’re on the floor, anything is an improvement…

Probably the worst game I've seen this season

players look demoralized, they don’t seem to care anymore either. So sad. Poor Flip and poor us

I definitely think

Butler mailed this one in. I am more disappointed in him than anyone. While I haven’t been shy with my criticism of Caron this year, I never accused him of being unprofessional. But this game was just pure crap. Anytime the ball gets to him, you know it’s not going anywhere else. While that’s happened a lot this season, last night it was much more pronounced. On top of that, he wasn’t even decisive. I remember one play where Foye passed it to him on the left elbow and he had plenty of room to make a move. Instead he just threw a pump fake (when NOBODY was close enough to be “faked”), pounded the ball like he was mad at it, stutter-stepped like he was gonna make a move, then shot a clanger off the rim. Ridiculous. He may not say it out loud, but his pride has to have him pissed off at himself right now. Between him stealing the last shot the other night, then that crap last night, he’s obviously gone down that “it’s all about me” path.

Part of the explanation for last night

Is the heavy minutes that guys played a few games ago. In my opinion, that explains Jamison’s ineffective play the last two games. I don’t understand how coaches, who almost always were players themselves, so easily forget that when muscles are overworked, they need time to recover. That players aren’t robots. In the Chicago game, Jamison played 55 minutes, and the very next night, he played 41. At almost 34 years old. Afterwards, he said something about being in a coma. Is it any surprise that he (and his body) have hit a lull a few days later?

by disgrunted on Jan 23, 2010 8:23 AM EST reply actions

Yep

Butler and Jamison are near the top of the league in minutes played. And I thought it was EJ who was being stubborn. If the bench has no potential for improvement, why are they even on the payroll? EG has built a house of cards.

boring

Over the past 25 years I have grown numb to bad play by the Bullets, but still catch most games. It is after all entertainment. Without Arena’s, this team is just so damn boring to watch. The only one who played with even a tad bit of pizazz was Blache (one nice slam). I want Arena’s back or for them to start all over.

Its not all about winning. If I lived in San Antonio, I would be complaining just as loud. Who wants to watch a bunch of bank shots. We should be highlighting Young, JM, Foye, Miller, and Blache. The rest can go.

by laxdog on Jan 23, 2010 8:45 AM EST reply actions

Young players

I would rather get rid of the veterans and give our yound players some serious minutes. Haywood and Jamison have stood out though I have a feeling they will be gone by the trade deadline.

Been to most homes games this year

And this is the first time that I didn’t even bother to watch the 4th quarter.

It was that bad.

My swag was phenomenal.
