And the beat goes on. Andray Blatche sent home today. Suspended for 1 game. Conduct detramental to team. No related to gun stuff.
UPDATE: From Craig Stouffer of the Examiner:
Andray Blatche - was here, but was suspended for tomorrow's game against Detroit by Wizards head coach Flip Saunders for conduct detrimental to the team unrelated to the Arenas/Crittenton situation. Saunders said it was a cumulative result of Blatche's behavior during yesterday's loss to New Orleans, a game in which he played 17 minutes, didn't take a single shot and finished with three rebounds, three turnovers and two blocks. After the game, Blatche was seen fully dressed in front of Randy Foye's locker, spraying Foye's cologne on as Wizards trainer Eric Waters asked him if he was coming into the training room for his knee. "Do I look like i care about my knee?" answered Blatche, who then left. In speaking with Wizards staff, it was made clear that the suspension was not based on one incident...

the more i read this stuff
i dont think the team can trade jamison/butler – or at least not both.
the team would fall apart at the seams if those guys leave.
uh
the team would fall apart at the seams if those guys leave
I would argue that they are already apart at the seams. We need to trade whoever we can for as much value as we can get. I have been content to root for the team KNOWING they probably aren’t going to win. But this stuff is getting ridiculous. I can’t wait until Leonsis takes control. Since he is not “married” to anyone in the organization, hopefully he will make sweeping changes. STARTING with Grunfeld. I was happy as hell when we got a REAL GM, but Ernie’s time is up. He’s been preaching that “When we’re healthy….” line for way too long. I don’t care if this team finds a witch doctor to put a no injuries spell on them, this team is simply not good. The sooner we come to grips with that, and blow the whole thing up, the sooner we can get back to being competitive on a nightly basis.
well they r close
but i think it could get much worse…and then the team becomes what the redskins were this year….at once you go down that path the rebuild just becomes a lot harder.
Not in the NBA
You got to suck to rebuild properly in this league.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
and we don't
suck now? 19 wins a year ago, and now healthy we really aren’t much better.
I think a full dismantling would be good for all involved. The players (veterans, that is) , the franchise, AND the fans all deserve a fresh start.
What Mike meant to say is
You got to suck and not trade your lottery picks to rebuild properly in this league.
OIC
and completely agree. Like I said back when we were still TALKING about the Foye/Miller trade – This team has not drafted a solid contributor in years, let alone a franchise player. I thought it was time we did so then, and I think it’s time we did so now. Wouldn’t it be nice to look like Oklahoma City? They may be struggling, but they have plenty of very good pieces in place, and a good reason for optimism.
The Former Sonics are 20-16
They are good and have a young, talented and cheap roster. I envy them!

if Jamison and Butler go, it could help our young guys grow up … like when a bird pushes its stubborn babys out of its nest so it can learn to fly or fail … trading Jamison and Caron will help us find out what our young guns are made out of … so trading our main vets could end up being a big step foreword in the development of our team
difference between sucking and being in disarray
i think they already suck…
but i wouldnt say they are in disarray…mainly because of jamison and flip.
my point was take jamison out of the equation and they suck and are in disarray…which builds on itself and is much harder to recover from (as the Wizards brand becomes more of a joke…which has to be rebuilt before good players want to play for them again…think Jailblazers)
this is definitely disarray
I give many of the Wizards players credit for keeping some level of sanity, but this team will remain in disarray until it gets a makeover.
As much as I like the individual players on this team, the Wizards need to completely expunge itself from the Big Three + Haywood formula for winning. The team needs to start fresh with a completely new identity.
Butler, Jamison and Haywood are all very tradeable before the Feb 19 trade deadline. It’s a longshot, but if Arenas’s suspension is limited to a total of 20 games or less (a possibility if thithen he’ll be back on the court by the deadline, and IMHO he’ll be tradeable as well.
There will be disarray up until Feb 19. This is a team that only has a month of playing together.

well - its close on either side of disarray
i cant believe i am saying this…but i dont think the wizards should trade jamison.
It's so depressing
I really did think he’d grown up, especially after the way he started the season.

sigh.
this team is definitely melting down. disarray, cluster-f%ck, whatever you want to call it.
i wonder if un-named team sources showing up in all the articles has created an even more distrustful and toxic atmosphere.

This is part of the crackdown
Management isn’t taking any more silliness. Shape up or be suspended.
I don’t see the problem.
Could be
Maybe management will take a firmer line, and that is for the better if it is done fairly and uniformly.
But I’ll believe it when Jamison is suspended the next time he kicks a sign and pouts after being benched.
kicks a sign and pouts after being benched
Is that a suspendable offense?

Apparently using Randy Foye's cologne and not icing your knee are suspendable offenses.
That must be some foul-smelling cologne.
Not as foul-smelling as the stuff Andray found in his shoe that one time.

You may want to interpret everything in light of a pre-existing dislike of Jamison and everything veteran, but in all seriousness there seemed to have been something brewing with Blatche for a while that under the new house rules must be nipped in the bud. Hopefully doing this once will reset everyone’s idea of what they can and can’t get away with.

you're both off-base
the reports say it was a series of things that occurred over the course of YESTERDAY’S GAME. There’s no reason to interpret that as Blatche having ongoing behavior problems.
And when we say "I don't see the problem"?
It means, “The team actually intervened before whatever problem this was blew up in their faces.”
Which is good. Whew.

I think Dray has definitely run out of chances....
He had people fooled the first couple of games (se7en, you nailed it!)… but his effort yesterday stank and then to behave like this after a tough loss… who needs it??
This is going to be one wild month…. and when the smoke clears we may hardly recognize what’s left… Alas, it has to be done.
sigh
just when I thought the team would be watchable again.
Sell sell sell
Its always Roger Mason (Jr.) time!
i would not mind if we use Blatche in a package with Butler that nets us a top 7 lotto pick after the season … im hoping we pick up 2 top 10-14 lotto picks for (Wodd Miller) – (Nick Foye James) before the deadline to go with our #1 overall :)
John Wall – 1st overall
Evan Turner – 5-7 pick
Devin Ebanks – 10-12 pick
Greg Monroe – 13-15
Trevor Booker – 27-29 CLV
Jarvis Varnado – 2nd rd pick
2010 team
John Wall
Even Turner
Devin Ebanks
Greg Monroe
JaVale McGee
Turner will go higher than that
I don’t see four players better in this draft class, personally. Even if he’s in a batch of players on that next tier down from Wall, there are certainly teams who’d choose him from among the range of options just based on need.
"It has come to the editor’s attention that the Herald-Leader neglected to cover the civil rights movement. We regret the omission."
Thomas is a restricted free agent after the year
We’d have to pay him at least twice Blatche’s salary to keep him. I’m not sure Thomas is twice the player.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Anybody wondering...
why Blatche, Young and McGee have been so screwed up with Arenas hanging around?
Leading by example....
And for those who have taken AJ to task for not being more assertive as captain, it is clear that both he and EJ were undermined by EG, who obviously let Gilbert get away with whatever. The youngsters saw what they saw, heard what they heard and acted acordingly (right up to buying into the gunfight at the ok corral in philly).
There is nothing inherently evil in any of this, mind you, and local equivalents of the Jordan Rules are not unique to this team or this sport…. but "as ye sow so shall ye reap…. " and this one is a particularly bitter harvest.
