Wizards trade idea....

...i see ppl do it all tha time so i figured i would 2

wizards send antawn jamison, deshawn stevenson, mike james and randy foye

warriors send andris biedrins, stephen curry and ronny turiaf

ok so here's y i make this trade......this clears tha logjam in tha backcourt and it gets rid of some bad contracts. although foye will (and i mean WILL) be good, this kinda hurts.....but a more pure pg would help....this move provides tha wizards tha option of startin curry, arenas, butler, biedrins, haywood and bringin young, blatche and mcgee off tha bench. it also brings in another big body....sounds good 2 me....what do u think???

No

A recent 2 time all-star, an ok starting SG when healthy, a valuable expiring contract, and another starting quality player that has not yet reached his prime for a volume shooting rookie (who they would’nt trade anyway), a decent starting quality PF/C, and an energetic 9-12th man. We should be able to do way better than that.

Curry is less of a “pure” point guard than Gilbert Arenas.

Constant passenger of the Jason Campbell Bandwagon since 2007. Keep on driving, brother.

I'd do it in a heartbeat

AJ’s great, but we’ve already got enough firepower, especially if we get Curry in return. Biedrins and Turiaff are the kind of big rebounders we need more of, and Nick Young and Mike Miller (along with DMac) can adequately cover the shooting guard duties. Golden State wouldn’t do it, though; they’re not going to trade two or three great young players for a 32 year old combo forward (center in Golden State) and a few expirers. I don’t know what Biedrins’ contract is like, but it can’t be bad enough to warrant taking on three years of a guy who will be wasted on a young team.

This is a wet dream for Washington

Golden State would laugh in our faces and hang up the phone. Biedrins is already a top 10ish center in the league and he’s only 23. He is, by far, the most valuable piece in the transaction. And Curry carries about as much value as Foye, only he’s locked into his rookie deal for 4 years. Sorry, Jamison is a former all star and all, but at age 33, with $40M left on his deal, he doesn’t have much trade value.

And I haven’t even mentioned the fact that this trade leaves Golden State with nobody on the roster even remotely capable of playing center.

I think they'd have to make Anthony Randolph do it

God, anyone over 6’5 must hate playing defense under Nellie. I can’t believe he’s actually had guys like Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson play center. I like small ball, but you really do need someone over 6’10 on the floor at all times.

Nope

This trade sets the Wiz back in being able to immediately contend.

OMG!!!!!!

I cannot believe people are even considering this for the Wizards. That deal is laughable, an allstar, two starting guards and an expiring contract for curry (who in my mind is way too hyped, in one of the weakest drafts in history AND DEFINITELY NOT A PURE POINT GUARD – you obviously didnt watch the 2008 tournament, there is nothing point guard about him, Davidson tried to make him a pg last year to raise his draft stock), biedrins (overrated by you guys obviously) and turiaf (who couldnt see the floor in LA and has heart issues, we’ve seen that one before)

That would be the worst move in Wizards/Bullets history and there has been some bad ones.

Finally!

A trade that is bad for both sides.

Lose-lose!

I agree

I voted (the opposite of heaven) no.

by qthaballa on Aug 7, 2009 9:52 PM EDT up reply actions

really now???

so let me get this str8….tha wiz givin up tired 32-ish yr old legs, a sry contract and 2 backups 4 a top10 big, a pure shooter and an extra big body is a bad trade? hmm, id jump at tha idea of riddin ourselves of james and stevenson’s contract as well as clearin up tha logjam in tha backcourt….especially 4 value like biedrins (he’s def a legit 15, 10 guy who plays inside more than any1 we could put out now) and curry….imagine havin a lineup of arenas, miller, butler, biedrins, haywood wit curry, young, dmac, mcgee and blatche off tha bench…y doesnt that sound good 2 any1 else?

by mrespn07 on Aug 6, 2009 6:01 PM EDT reply actions

Yea

33 year old legs that put up 20-10 every night and are really durable, a valuable expiring sorry contract, and both Stevenson (when healthy) and Foye who have been and can be full time starters for beidrins who is only an 11-10 guy and thats in Golden State and Curry who is another no defense scoring/volume shooting rookie which we dont need. If we are going to trade all of those players, we can get way more than that.

by lj15 on Aug 6, 2009 8:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Actually

I think that Beidrins is overrated a little by some people. But I dont disagree that its a lose-lose.

by lj15 on Aug 6, 2009 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

mrespn07-

Your writing is nearly impossible to read.

As to the substance: Curry, Young, Dmac, McGee, Blatche as a bench is a recipe for disaster. There is not a player among them who seems to knw what they’re doing. That would be a total re-focus of our goals. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s not going to happen.

by MR on Aug 6, 2009 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions

What?

Despite AJ’s age, he is a much better player than Biedrins. If you disagree with me on that, you don’t know basketball. Also, Randy Foye is a better player than Curry at this moment, and Foye is still young and has time to develop. Actually, I think he has the potential to be a star in this league. So the trade does not make sense.

by 6ft1height on Aug 8, 2009 4:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Doesn't work

Salaries are about $16M for GS and $25M for the Wiz. Not even close to doable. If it were, it would be a fantastic financial move for the Wiz. Take James and Foye or Stevenson out of the deal and it works, but GS still wouldn’t do it.

by steadyhand on Aug 6, 2009 6:40 PM EDT reply actions

I'd do this trade

just to see what sort of insanity Don Nelson comes up with.

“Starting at center for YOUR Golden State Warriors, Antawn Jamison!!!!!” AJ would be the biggest and most physical player on their roster.

But you can’t take Steph Curry away from that team, it just wouldn’t be right.

by yop32 on Aug 7, 2009 5:47 AM EDT reply actions

If only we still had OPech to give them.

by MR on Aug 7, 2009 6:37 AM EDT up reply actions

you must be

insane.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
