I know there has been some concern about DeShawn Stevenson, who had back surgery in March and hasn't played basketball since late January. Well, I can inform you that Stevenson is currently in Vancouver this week, working with renowed physical therapist Alex McKechnie. McKechnie is the athletic performance coordinator for the Los Angeles Lakers and has helped players such as Shaquille O'Neal, Grant Hill and Pau Gasol come back from serious injuries. O'Neal credits McKechnie for bringing his career back to life after O'Neal suffered an abdominal strain during the 1997-98 season. I covered Theo Ratliff in Atlanta and Ratliff always praised McKechnie for helping him come back from an assortment of injuries. McKechnie created the innovative "Core X" system, which stengthens the abs, core, upper body and lower body. Stevenson's financial advisor hooked him up with McKechnie and they set up his summer workout plans when the Lakers were in Orlando during the NBA Finals. An update on DeShawn Stevenson and Fabricio Oberto from Michael Lee.
