Around SBN: Celtics, Heat Score On Purpose In Super Sunday Wins

Fox Sports had a similar column run today. I can't say I hate watching opinions coming a little more toward our side.

The Mask is Coming Off
Some diva tendencies are starting to show, first pouting after a big loss and now trying to suppress video that shows him as something less than a superman for about five seconds. It’s a little like an actress who won’t allow herself to be photographed unless her makeup is on and the lighting is perfect. It would be a shame to see James, who has been so appealing in part because he has seemed so natural and down-to-earth, turn into the kind of celebrity athlete who becomes so self-absorbed he can’t handle defeat with grace or so image conscious he tries to micro-manage the flow of information about him that reaches the public.

I used to think LeBron James was a class act, because that was the image he constantly gave during interviews. Even after he took seven steps in 2006 to beat our team, I still did not have any super negative feelings towards LeBron. Just a little jealousy over the favorable treatment. Even when he told Arenas not to miss those free throws that series. Many great competitive athletes have done the same.

What finally convinced me that LeBron was a douche bag was the whole DeShawn Stevenson feud. Many here still blame DeShawn for that whole ordeal, but it was LeBron who instigated the matter by what he said to DeShawn’s close friend Drew Gooden during a practice. I don’t know exactly what was said, but DeShawn has hinted at it being about a former girlfriend and DeShawn’s manhood. Any man with a functional sack would have taken LeBron to task for such comments, but that’s besides the point. LeBron revealed a bit of his true character when he mouthed off to Gooden. Egotism and pride, for sure, but what bothers me is that LeBron did not even have the courage to say what he said to DeShawn’s face. DeShawn, despite being a far inferior player on the court, displayed no such cowardice the next time he saw “the King”.

Since then, more and more incidents have revealed just how much a douche bag LeBron is. Remember when LeBron held a Cleveland restaurant open to 3:45 AM with an $800 bill and then left the waiter a measley $10 tip? More evidence. Handshake-gate? More evidence. This whole dunk affair? More evidence. LeBron is not a poster-boy for sportsmanship and class, despite the face he puts on to the media. LeBron really is LeBitch.
