Jazz Look To Trade Boozer
Another scenario to help upgrade our fron-court. When healthy, the guy is a monster on the block. He is fierce with his rebounding, he has a excellent back to the basket game and he can be a go to guy in the half court.
Here is a scenario that helps us dump some of our guards and a forward
We give up James, Stevenson and Blatche for Boozer.
Why would we do this?
We dump a couple of expiring contracts as well as unload some gaurds. We also add a key cog who can help us take that next step.
Why would Utah do this?
They get a couple of expiring contracts, as well as a young "promising" forward who they can play behind their boy Milsap (who is about to get paid big-time). Plus they won't have the drama of dealing with both guys on their team which could cause them a lot of grief down the road, this season.
Boozer only has one year left on his contract. So since we're going for it all now, why not make a move like this. If the guy doesn't work out, f it. His contract is off the books at the end of the year and all we would have given up for a boozer rental is Andre Blatche. I'd even throw a first round pick if it could help our cause. I want to make a run a championship before Lebron, Wade and Bosh swindle their way to the same team and own the nba for the next 5 years.

Do you see Jerry Sloan trading for Andray Blatche?
Nuff said really – no chance Sloan wants prince knucklehead on his team.

Not to mention the even smaller chance that the Jazz would take Stevenson back after what went down back in the day...

Jamison for Boozer would be a lateral move
Boozer’s a better player, but Jamison’s knack for catching and shooting and spacing the floor make him a better fit for our team. Plus, if we threw in Blatche, we’d only have three big men, and I doubt we’d be able to pry any extra bigs from the Jazz.

Jamison
Jamison was not included in the proposed deal.

Yeah, I'm just thinking that it wouldn't make sense to have both guys
Neither can really play another position, and it’s not like we’d want to pay two guys 10+ million dollars a year so they can both play 24 minutes a game. A Jamison for Boozer move would make sense, though, in that it would give us cap relief.

Don’t want him, bad defender, prone to leave teams dry. Jamison and Boozer both at PF is a nightmare. At least Blatche can play center.

This just reinforces how stupid it is/was for Memphis to trade for Randolph. They could have traded a second round pick to Utah (Utah is just looking to clear salary) for one year of Boozer at a salary less than Randolph’s.

Yup
Although it probably would have taken a bit more than a 2nd-round pick. The point still stands though.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Rule of Thumb
Any GM that trades for Zach Randolph makes a stupid decision.

why not go for bosh?
we may have to give a foye or young but if we could get him to sign an extension then we could be in pretty good shape.

Sounds implausible
I know the Jazz may expect Boozer to leave (and could force him out soon by giving Millsap a big contract) after this year, and therefore could be surveying their options in a trade, but this trade doesn’t really make any sense for them. First off, DeShawn’s contract is not expiring so they’d only be clearing the Mike James money next year. Second, the one piece that was supposed to be a possible long-term prospect for them doesn’t fit their mold in the slightest. Blatche has shown potential, but no one will argue that he is soft, often lacks effort, and plays a sloppy (possibly erratic) style of basketball that has no place in Jerry Sloan’s system.
I don’t think there is any realistic way we will get Boozer (even for a 1 year rental) because it would require either A. at least $10mil in expiring contracts + young/promising player who FITS THEIR SYSTEM or B. one of our Big 3. And even though some of us may be weighing the Jamison vs. Boozer debate, I think it’s pretty clear that Ernie will take no part in that and has committed himself to Gil/Caron/AJ.
