OK, let me preface by saying I'M the one saying this. I know how rumors get started and consequently out of hand. This is purely a "what if" scenario. SO here goes...

WHAT IF we could swap picks with Phoenix, throw in Haywood, Etan, Pech, maybe Blatche or Darius, and get Shaq? While the talent level (not to mentioning marketing and soundbites) is not on par, this might be worth it for Phoenix just because of his age. Now, I know that the numbers probably wouldn't work, but throw that our for now. If this team is built to "win now", then why not bring in the largest "hired gun" ever? While Shaq's play has definitely declined, he did play at an all star level last year. Sure, that happened after Amare went out, but it would be different here. We don't have a low post threat. And, much as the thought lines went in Phoenix, with our firepower he wouldn't be required to carry the team. But, could you imagine Shaq, regardless of his current age, as the 4th, maybe 3rd option? I personally think this would be something to get us to the conference finals (at least), if we were able to do it AND keep the "big 3" in place. Now, like I said, I know the numbers don't work, (though I'm SURE Pollin would be willing to pay the luxury tax on Diesel). But WHAT IF???
