Mavs eye pick # 5
The Mavs are looking at moving up to pick #5 to draft Jordan Hill. They are willing to sweeten the deal by including Josh Howard or Jason Terry. (Must be an ESPN Insider to view)

My view
If you can acquire a player of Howard’s ability for peanuts, you do that EVERY time.
Its always Roger Mason (Jr.) time!

This works
Wizards trade #5 pick + Etan Thomas + Pecherov
FOR
Josh Howard + #22 pick

I doubt it'll work unless we throw Blatche in
I remember Dallas having interest in 2007 when Blatche was a free agent. They’d want Blatche because Brandon Bass is a FA and they could use a backup big.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

I'd give up Blatche if it brought is Josh Howard
Swap out Pech for Blatche and it’s a done deal, as long as the #22 pick is included. Then we pick up Terrence Williams at #22.

I like packaging the 5 and an expiring for Josh Howard, but this rumor seems bogus to me.
I believe ESPN is just referencing a Tom Knott article in Wash Times where he writes:
The Mavericks are said to be interested in the fifth pick and the prospect of drafting Jordan Hill.
The teams have made nice in the past, most recently in the swap that secured Jamison in 2004. The Mavericks also were kind enough to relieve the Wizards of Juwan Howard in 2001.
The Mavericks apparently are willing to part with either Jason Terry or Josh Howard to sweeten a potential deal. The Mavericks would be obligated to accept an expiring contract of the Wizards, the one belonging to either the Poet or Mike James.
And my guess is Knott is just repeating the draftexpress rumor that circulated a week ago (http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Word-on-the-Street-June-2nd-3241/).

Johnnie, thank you
for find the original article. I couldn’t dig it up on the Times….it would be a shame if the rumor has no legs.

He is just repeating the DX rumor
Tom Knott doesn’t actually do any reporting these days.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

Not that I trust ANYTHING that is said this time of year....
but DX is one of the more credible sites out there.

deal...if we can't aquire a good big man
im a little skeptical about bringing in the off court stuff that he brings with him but this pobably lifts us up to top 5 in the east. i still think we need a dominant/close to dominant big man
