Former Wizards coach Eddie Jordan's name has been thrown around. He worked for Ed Stefanski with the Nets.

Some sources close to the team say the Sixers need a coach who commands respect, is a former player but not a player's coach, and is more strict than former Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks. Someone similar in style to Pistons coach Michael Curry.

Michael Curry

Seems like if they wait a few weeks, Curry himself might be available.

What has Curry done that's so special?

I can’t see a young team like the Sixers giving him a job.

Eddie Jordan is a player's coach too

He might be more strict than Mo Cheeks, but that isn’t saying much.

Ha

So the Sixers identity is a defensive team that likes to get out and run. And they want Eddie Jordan to facilitate that? Yikes.

Well, the Sixer have players willing to play D

Igoudala, Dalembert, Reggie Evans, Brand etc.

Besides Haywood, McGuire and Stevenson ….. not the best players on the team … .name me who was willing to play D for Jordan.

Stop

it was not his main concern and that was obvious. Is Dalembert really going to give up his body due to the defensive inspiration that is Eddie Jordan? No. They’d get worse as a team and individually because their standards of acceptable defense would drop as he was accepting the job.

Even at face value, players willing to play D have to have a plan of action. Again they’d be getting that from Eddie Jordan? no.

I don't know...

Flip Saunders is known as a “players” coach too… (Just like Eddie Jordan)…

He had defensive minded players in Detroit, and they played pretty good defense for Flip.

To be fair to Eddie Jordan, the entire time he was in Washington he had only two or three players on his roster that could even remotely be called adequate defensive players (and yes, I’m including Michael Ruffin in that “remotely adequate” group). The rest were below average or worse (cough, cough – Jamison, cough). How can we say that it was Eddie’s defensive schemes that were the root cause of the poor defense that the Wizards consistently showed a nightly basis.

Who knows, maybe this time next year, we’ll be talking about Eddie Jordan, the “defensive genius” behind the resurgent 76’ers
