Marbury, according to a source, was contacting Flip Saunders almost on a daily basis during the postseason and there is a chance that Marbury could be reunited with his first professional coach (okay, second after Bobby Cremins) next season.
Saunders is now the head coach of the Washington Wizards and would strongly considering adding Marbury to the roster if there is a vacancy. The biggest hurdle for Marbury is that Mike James and Javaris Crittenton are both under contract.
Ernie Grunfeld was a big Marbury fan when Ernie ran the Knicks. He tried to get him the year that Marbury was traded to the Nets. Instead of Marbury the Knicks made a deal the same day for Mirsad Turkcan.
I think we have an early frontrunner for most interesting rumor of the off-season.

Hey
The way I look at it – Marbury is an upgrade over Juan Dixon
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
uggggggh
if i remember correctly, boston suffered HORRIBLY after adding him to their roster this season. and with that same (not trustworthy) memory, it was well after KG went down.

DO NOT WANT.
That is all.
The Washington Wizards: providing career scoring nights for unknown opposing bench players since 2004.
I'm just wondering who the "source" is
The custodian? Marbury’s portfolio advisor? Marbury himself?
The world must know, Frank Isola. Divulge your source!
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Marbury has great story placement skills...
Perhaps he will find a home at Hill & Knowlton or Burson-Marsteller, buts not with the Wizards for crissakes, not after his effort for the Celtics. Talk about blown opportunities… tho there was that one brief moment… [sound of man slapping his own face very hard]
Well ... if we can get rid of Mike James ... why the eff not?

Precisely, If the off-season plan is to upgrade the talent level on the team..
And if the Wizards can move James (and/or Thomas, Pecherov, Blatche, etc…) and they free up roster space…. Why wouldn’t they be interested?
As I said above, Marbury is an upgrade over Juan Dixon.
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
because we already have enough space cadets on this team.....
if anything we need a “fiery competitor” type, not a Marbury.

James is better and less of a distraction than Marbury
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Dude is crazy....but for some reason I want to give him a second chance.

Except it'd be like a 5,000,000th chance
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Wow. Didn't know it was that many.
I would have given him a 4th or 5th chance, but that’s waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.
Ok, we don’t need him.

Why? so he can hold the Wizards hostage
with tales of various teammates’ drunken craziness at Love or Juste Lounge? Thanks, but no.
Marbury?
What is the deal with him? Did he used to be really good? And what was going on in NY? I know he refused to play, but I don’t know why.
Lemme just say...
…NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I'm the only person who likes him
His numbers didn’t reflect it at all, but he seemed to still have the tools necessary to be a decent backup guard. He can handle the ball, guard ones and twos, and he’s another slasher (although his free throw numbers obviously don’t reflect that). I’d love to have him on the team as the second or third guard off the bench, but I just worry about roster spots. As the team stands now, I’m thinking Dom and Nick Young will be the shooting guard rotation, with Gil and Critt sharing the point guard duties and Deshawn Stevenson filling in at both spots when needed. If we trade away Crittenton and/or Nick Young, though, I’d rather have Marbury than Mike James. I know he’s been a bad locker room influence in the past, and I hate seeming like my memory only goes back three months, but I really do believe Steph is reformed and would be a decent vet with a lot of motivation to prove himself.
Steph is reformed
This made me chuckle.
Sure the guy has skills, but is his locker room influence—remember that he was banned from the Knicks—worth a guy who plays 10 minutes? And would he be happy with that?
No thanks.
I think he'd be ok with playing ten minutes
He did it with the Celtics, and he’d know he wouldn’t be a starter before he signed a contract, so I don’t see it being an issue.

I'm w/ you...
…will take Marbury over MJ (Mike James) any day. Javaris has a looong way to go. If Gil is still gimpy, Marbury will be a great addition.
Haywood
Jamison
Butler
Arenas
Marbury
Will be interesting…

Although I live in NYC, I know few of the details of the Marbury debacle with the Knicks. But from what I casually saw, I believe that the team and D’Antoni gave him several chances to be a member of the team and overall seem to have tried to settle the whole thing fairly. I took Steph to be the belligerent party. The entire episode became a huge and expensive distraction to everyone. What makes anyone think all of the sudden he’d be such a great guy to have in our already volatile lockerroom with it’s large number of young players that by many accounts act less than professional?

Right
He behaved in Boston because Kevin Garnett would have killed him (literally) if he didn’t.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
He just seems more mature
I can’t really give a lot of evidence since he was only with the Celtics for two months, but he just seemed better. Ron Artest is kind of the same way. I think that he’s come to realization that he’s no longer an elite player and he should act accordingly. I mean, despite only playing ten or fifteen minutes a game and not taking a lot of shots, he seemed to deal with it well and I didn’t hear anything bad about him. It’s still a risk to have him, but I think it would be worth it to have him if it saves us from another season of Mike James playing major minutes.
