Mobley: What is/was it like working in a sports section with two relative sports giants ([Michael] Wilbon and [Tony] Kornheiser) and what if anything have they taught you, and what have you learned from them?
Lee: I never really got to know Tony Kornheiser because he rarely came to Wizards games and I wouldn’t run into him otherwise. The only advice Kornheiser gave me was during the 2004-05 season, when the Wizards were about to reach the playoffs for the first time in eight years. Kornheiser put his hand on my shoulder and said, "You should leave after this season because it’s never going to get better than this." I moved on to cover the NBA the next season and the Wizards have yet to win another playoff series or more than 45 games. The man knew what he was talking about.

Yeah right
Tony is also the guy that made up the “Curse of Les Boulez”…. And with the exception of the Redskins (and Tony’s Bandwagon), has been writing mostly pessimistic stories about all the Washington Sports franchises…

But in fairness
Except for the Redskins, was there much to be optimistic about in D.C. sports while he was writing at the Post? I’m not saying it wasn’t annoying at times, but it’s not like he had a whole lot to work with while he was working there.

Ahh wait
I forgot the Caps had a good run in the 80’s and they made the Cup finals in ’98. But at least with the Wizards my point stands, I think.

There were times he had the chance to jump on.....
Like when the Wizards drafted a young kid (John Williams) with tremendous potential. In his 3rd year, Williams averaged 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists… and was looking like a new kind of player the league had rarely seen before: a Point Forward. But I guess TONY WAS RIGHT, because the next year, John tore up his knee and then ate himself out of the league.
When the Wizards went to the Playoffs with Chris Weber and Juwan Howard and got swept by the Jordan Bulls – Michael Jordan said that the Wizards were a good young team… but Tony’s take was that something would happen (negatively)…
AND IT DID, and TONY WAS RIGHT AGAIN
And Tony never really jumped on the Wizards – even when they got Gilbert Arenas… even after winning their Playoff series against Cleveland – Tony never started a Wizards “bandwagon”…..
AND I GUESS HE WAS RIGHT AGAIN
I just want the Wizards to prove Tony Kornheiser wrong once!

God I Wish
even after winning their Playoff series against Cleveland
I pray that happens someday, but unfortunately you meant Chicago.
