BF Draft Board: Pick #5

I know, I know, we could easily trade the pick, but with the Wizards getting the fifth pick and currently owning a high second-rounder, we need to fill out an official community draft board.  Keep in mind, folks, that this is a Wizards-centric draft board, not necessarily a list of who you believe are the top prospects in the draft.  This is in order of best fit to worst fit among the top prospects in this draft.  Ability of course plays a role, but consider first and foremost how this player will fit with the Wizards.

In an unbelievably close vote, James Harden won the fourth spot on our Bullets Forever draft board.  That leaves us with the following board:

  1. Blake Griffin (prospect profile)
  2. Ricky Rubio (prospect profile)
  3. Hasheem Thabeet (prospect profile)
  4. James Harden (prospect profile)
Here's the vote for the fifth spot, and I expect it to be just as close, if not closer. There's clearly a wide range of opinions on the prospects in this year's draft, both among the community and in the general public.

Anyway, vote away!

Please not Derozan

He’s ahead in the poll right now.

Can we please draft a player who actually knows how to play basketball? I’m tired of ‘upside’ guys. Demar has nice athleticism, true, and he held Harden’s leash in their match-ups, that’s clear, but while the NBA athleticism is there, it seems to me to make no sense trying to draft shooting guards who can’t shoot.. Can he improve his 16% from the NCAA three? Sure, TMac is a fine example of another wall-eyed cat who can shoot. (Maybe it’s me but DeMar looks like he’s got too much space between his eyes or something). But he also post low totals in defensive boards & assists relative to same position players in the NCAA (two stats that provide good measures for on-court awareness: you know where your man is on offense and defense).

And don’t we already have a hyper-athletic USC alum with an incomplete game?

We’re probably splitting votes elsewhere. But heck I’d take Curry. Ty Lawson. Blair. Okay Hill. Somebody who knows how to play.

I am voting for Blair

Although if this was not a Wizards-centric board I would probably vote for Brandon Jennings. I know he hasn’t been that good in Italy but there is a lot about his skill set that appeals to me. I think he will develop into a terrific combo guard (65% scorer, 35% passer).

By the way, can Ricky Rubio do this?

Drew League games in LA. Nick Young, James Harden and JaVale McGee.

McGee with some insane aerial maneuvers…

Granted the next tallest guy is like six foot seven, but still, kid looks good. Got to like a stat line like 30pts 12 boards 6 blocks— even if he should have had double the boards, weak box out a couple times there.

But hey, Harden goes right…

And Nick gets an assist…

World’s gone crazy!!

Stephen Curry

I pretty much have a man crush on him. Coming from a basketball family is a huge plus – No way he’s going to be worse than Dell – and we could really use a guy who can stretch the floor.

Just as a lot of people on here would reach for Dejuan Blair at #5, I wouldn’t hesitate to reach for Curry either.
