Not a whole lot in the article that hasn't already been discussed here on BF....

But one thing that this “NBA pro personnel scout” said makes me think twice…

“He’s a great fit for Washington,” the personnel man said. “Because then they can trade Antawn Jamison.”…….
By essentially trading out Jamison to make room for Griffin, the Wizards would relaunch with three stars — Arenas, Caron Butler and Griffin — all in their 20s.

Great idea. It would improve the team for the short term, and provide a longer window of opportunity…. It’s all been discussed here at Bulletsforever before…. BUT.. everyone here knows that Abe Polin loves Jamison and won’t trade him.

And you would think that an “NBA pro personnel scout” would also know that… which makes me wonder about the source.

What if Jamison wanted out

Like Rook said, this issues been dealt with here before and so mine are by no means original points, but anywho…
Jamisons a 40 mpg guy.
Blake Griffins going to get significant minutes, at Jamisons expense.
The Pollin-Jamison love affair has lasted this long, but up til this point
there has been no competition at the PF spot.
If Jamisons minutes get slashed, maybe hes going to start looking for somewhere to go and play 40 mpg for the last year or two of his prime.
If Jamison starts wanting out, then Pollin might follow that bit of proverbial wisdom:
if you love somebody, set them free.

Jamison wants to stay

just as much as Abe Pollin wants him to stay. He has said he wants to end his career here, he’s playing the best basketball of his career now even though he’s almost 33, and he and Gilbert are best friends. Even if his minutes are cut a little bit I dont ever see him flat out wanting out of Washington just because he isnt playing 40 minutes. That would be pretty silly.

Im sure his career goal isnt to play 40+ minutes in as many games as possible. Im sure his main goal has always been to win a championship. If this is true (which im confident it is) I easily see him playing less minutes with a smile on his face as long as they are winning. Some people here tend to act like Antawns always been this big cancer that just causes major problems every year and is not valuable to this team and that we should ship him out of town at the drop of a hat. I think its really unfair to him because he gives it his all for the organization and us, the fans, every minute he is on the court.

Only one

If he ends his career anywhere but Washington it will be in Charlotte. Any deal would probably require a third team.

I dont think so

He has a way less chance of winning a championship in Charlotte than he does here.

Hmmmmmm....

Jamison, Okafor, G Wallace, Iverson and Felton/Augustine pus Raja Bell and Boris Diaw playing for Larry Brown?. I would not discount their chances of at least making some serious noise. Of course maybe we could pry one of those players (Diaw would make a heck of a sixth man here) plus a draft pick from MJ in return for Antawn…

But its all ifs and buts… Dial this one in again after Tuesday night’s ball drop!

Thats a playoff team

but not a championship team. None of that is guaranteed as you said, but I dont see Jamison in Charlotte or anywhere else the rest of his career.
