Over the next few months were going to be spending a lot of time talking about the Wizards' upcoming lottery pick. We'll spend time talking about who we should pick, who would be the best fit, whether or not we should trade down, and a bevy of other topics related to this year's draft.
What we often fail to do in these discussions is think of ways to prepare whatever lottery pick comes our way for the challenges they'll face as they enter the NBA. Sure, none of us can give advice from our own personal experiences, but we can examine what the stars of the NBA did right in their rise to stardom and what some of the most famous busts did wrong. Given that the Wizards last three lottery picks were Jarvis Hayes, Jared Jeffries, and Kwame Brown, a little advice to get our next lottery pick off on the right foot certainly couldn't hurt.
In that spirit, we've put together a list of rules for this year's lotter pick to live by, entitled "78 Rules for the Wizards' Undrated Lottery Pick." If you're familiar with the site 1001 rules for my unborn son, then you're probably already acquainted with how this project will work. If you're not, you'll catch on fairly quickly. Another rule will be unveiled each day as we get closer and closer to this year's big day.
