This game isn't on CSN?

I was hoping for Buck to be extra fired up for this.

Nope

The schedule makers were hoping for a big-time game with major playoff implications tonight. They got burrrrrrrrned.

A couple of ground rules tonight

1. No Cleveland Steamer jokes. They’re not funny.

2. I won’t say don’t make 2010 jokes, but it’s not like they’ve never heard that brought up before. I’m sure that every Cleveland fan has their own defense for the subject whenever it’s brought up. I’d rather just focus on what’s happening tonight than get caught up in what’s going to happen 1.5 years from now.

3. The Cavs have 61 wins, the Wizards have 59 losses. This isn’t a game of epic proportions, let’s be nice to one another.

Haywood starting tonight

According to washingtonwizardsblog.com. This is as close to the old starting lineup as its gonna get this season and it could’nt be at a better time….acually it could have been but still.

The Projected Starters table has been modified to reflect the lineup changes.

Also, I’ve officially upgraded McGuire from “Player filling in for injured starter” to “Taser”. I think he’s earned it.

Well the way I figure it

I think he’ll be our starting SG next year (depending on how the draft goes), so we might as well get used to the thought of him in the starting lineup. But we’ll have more time to debate that this off-season.

McGee is a special athlete for his size. Biedrins is not, though he’s no stiff. What the Warriors’ big man has, though, is an engine that runs hot all the time. Since the day he arrived in America for pre-draft workouts, he’s attacked the glass with passion.

If McGee can play similarly, he’ll not only help his own game a great deal, but also help lift the Wizards back into playoff contention.

Curb your enthusiasm?

No! But anyway, Arenas tells David Aldridge after the game “I’m just not moving as well as I used to, so I’m just trying to get the ball to guys.”
Will his movement get better? I mean I can understand basketball skills needing work after a long time off, but his movability should have completely recovered during rehab, and probably won’t improve with game minutes, because its related to physical health not basketball rustiness.

Its that, but he hasn’t been in game situations for so long. Practice can only do so much, but no ones gonna pound on me or give him a lot of contact in practice. Confidence and just being out there in a NBA game. He’ll be ready by November.

But movement is a physical condition

A flat jumper might get better with more PT, but a broken arm won’t. Gilbert’s court awareness might improve with PT, but movement doesn’t seem like something that would. When he talks about limited mobility, I think physical symptom not rustiness.

But you have to realize he’s had 3 surgery’s in 18 months. If he wanted to, he could play 48 minutes a game now, but you have to take this stuff slowly, especially after he’s had 2 blotched attempts at coming back too quickly. He has to see how it feels the next day, and it will be stiffer than it was before surgery but thats what you have to expect.

Next year, he’ll be ready to do what he was did.

He should do acupuncture

It would do wonders on the stiffness, flexibility and swelling.

Are you listening Gil?

by MR on Apr 2, 2009 11:03 PM EDT up reply actions

NO

After ANY surgery, there’s a period of time where you can do certain things… but in the case of Arenas, he probably doesn’t have that
explosiveness in that knee that he needs…. so he won’t be able to get as much lift when he drives to the hole…

He has said several times that the knee feels fine… and it’s strong… so that’s not the problem…
Doesn’t mean he can’t be effective, just that he might not be able to drive …… THIS YEAR…

By next season, he should be fine…

BUT – I kinda like the non-explosive Arenas…. 10 assists a night are nice (right up there with Deron Williams and Chirs Paul)

I don't know what happened

Right after the game my DirecTV went out. Shouting to loud?

I KNOW it's just one game

but without a backup PG, with tons of rust everywhere (Haywood, Gil, Songila, Butler, team chemistry) we beat the “best” team in the NBA.

I think that should say something to the skeptics out there.

Still no signal here. Missing the end sucked loudly.

Yep.

And I love watching them kill the Skins. I’ve loved this team, but this offseason is killing it for me.

Cleveland has the best record in the league.

Tonight, the Wizards > Cleveland.
Therefore, the Wizards are the best team in the league.
