To be honest, I want to lead the league in triple-doubles next season. I'm not gonna go out there and try to score 30. We have enough scorers on this team and I can dominate the game in other ways... Next year, I'm trying to turn into a real point guard. Since, we didn't have a legit [shooting] guard, I took on the scoring mentality, especially in Eddie's system. Eddie's system was just two guard, two forwards and a center, it wasn't really no point guard, and no [shooting guard]... So, now we're coming into a regular system when I'm going to be the point guard, it's the my chance to really manage the team for the first time in my career... Now, [Flip] is going to put the ball in my hands and just let me run the team.
Gilbert's Expectations and Personal Changes for Next Year There is a lot of good stuff in here, especially when he's talking about all the media hype about him being uncoachable or uncontrollable. It's all BS, as I have said. These quotes are exactly what is going through Gil's head. He knows what's best for the team, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to make the team better. He's a gym rat who works his ass off. He makes a great point about Eddie's offense. There really wasn't a true point guard. Someone brought up the ball, and they did their worthless 3-man weave. There was no point guard to create or play-make. Things will be different next year, and Gil knows what it takes to adapt to the new situation. Read the whole thing.
