Around SBN: Champions League Preview with Jimmy Conrad

I'm guessing that Friday's win, which ensured that the Wizards wouldn't go down as the worst team in franchise history, was Gilbert's reason behind not playing tonight.

Saving it

I think he’s saving himself for the big ‘statement games’ as he sees them. That means the defending champion Celtics in Boston. he doesn’t want a game versus Toronto to get in the way of the last game, the last images we see of this team this season.

As one of the leading opponents of "tanking"

I am A-OK with this decision.

As I see it we aren’t winning in Boston, since it looks like they are going to use that as a tune up game. So this one single loss could improve our lottery chances by 5-10%.

I think the team and Gilbert has probably seen what they need to see and that’s why he’s not playing.

The lottery odd difference for top pick between 2d worst record and 3d worst is just less than 5%, according to Blatche4MVP’s post. Now that the Kings have locked up the bottom spot, the benefits of tanking are negligible.

You are right, my mistake

Given that we’re talking about a potential tie with the Clips, I guess that makes it 2.5 – 5%.

Clips might lose to OKC, which could make us 2nd…

But I’d rather have those increased chances than winning this game. What’s this win gonna do? What will this LOSE do?

I’ll side with losing.

GO RAPTORS!

Actually

The difference between 2nd and 3rd is 4.3% -

But when you compare 19.9% and 15.6%, then you weigh the benefits to winning or losing this game, you can’t help but hope we lose this game. :)

I was considering the possibiity that it leaves us in a tie, so half of 4.3 is also a possibility.

Definitely

Hopefully the Clips will beat OKC. They’re 3-0 against OKC in previous matches, and it’s at home.

Thrilled...

…about this.

Let’s be honest here. We need to lose these last two games.

Go Raptors!
