I'll start off the thread like this:
GO RAPTORS!
Don’t hate me for loving the Wizards enough to say that.
so when you watch, are you rooting for antawn to miss his shots?
or caron to turn it over again? or javale to go for the pump fake? or for ruffin to throw the ball in the air to mo pete (hypothetical)?
i can get the feeling of ‘ok, they lost, silver lining is more ping pong balls’ but i do not see how you can watch and actually root for poor play. i’m beaten down, jaded, and pessimistic about everything this team does, but still physically cannot root for the crappy play.
slippery slope, i say!

I want what's best for the team
And higher chances of getting Griffin is what’s best for this team. This win would mean nothing. It’s simple odds. I’m not quite sure why there aren’t more who agree with me.
You can’t help realize that losing this game is better for us. I don’t sit there rooting for crappy play. I want us to get the L because it’s what’s best for us in the long run.
Let’s be rational here.
i think everyone sees the rational argument
but yet, we’re here, chatting about a 19- 60-whatever team. if fans were ruled by rationality, it would be a world full of colin cowherds, which is a place i see in my nightmares.

If fans were rational....
we’d all be Cleveland and LA Laker fans….
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
Haha
Well, this is why I’m here. To supply the dose of rationality. :)
Come on BF community… There’s bound to be ONE MORE, just ONE MORE out there who agrees with me! Maybe all the rational people have taken a hiatus until we’re back in full force with our new team.
This isn’t to mock all of you who disagree with me. I see your argument as well, but I can’t rationally go with it. :)
if dead last was still an option
i might, just might, come around. but it’s not, so i won’t

The Clippers could still win fewer games than us
I’m still going to root for us, though. Although really, what would be best for us would be for the young guys to play most of the game and play phenomenally well, then lose it at the last second on a freak shot by Calderon or something.
by pantslessyoda1 on Apr 13, 2009 7:03 PM EDT up reply actions
Love that Scenario
I’ll root for that. The caveat, is though, that it’s still rooting for a loss. :)
Comparing Odds
So 25% is worth coming around for, but 20% is not? Relatively speaking, 20% is pretty good and worth rooting for.
Just curious
What’s everyone’s favorite memories of the gold uniforms? I’d have to go with Gilbert’s 60 point performance, but I’m sure there’s a few other great games in the gold that I’m forgetting.
Bullets Forever: A blog dedicated to the Washington Wizards with analysis, commentary, and more YouTube videos than your eyes can handle.
It's got to be the sixty point game
I vaguely remember us wearing them in the playoffs against the Cavs last year, and a few of those games were great, even though I can’t remember whether or not we wore gold for them.

Not a HUGE NBA fan but,
whats the deal with Gilbert? I saw a week or two ago he was playin but havnt seen anything else, is he still hurt or did they just shut him down?
Hopefully
My worst fear is that the knee isn’t ok, and that’s why he’s not even playing in the home games.

They're saying that he's fine
I think after the Wizards beat Cleveland, both he and the team saw all they needed in terms of his health and how he’d mesh with the team and they didn’t want to risk further injury.

I was really hoping to see him match up against Javale.
They're very similar players
Except that JaVale still has talent and potential.

Both of those passes were amazing, and Critt made that layup at such a weird angle
J Critt's finger roll
Was def odd but a great shot too — will need that from him
Here is my take on the game…and still can’t believe that open shot by Bosh. Underrated player if you ask me.

Why not CSN+?
That’s what I don’t get.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
What's really weird
Is they still have it listed as being on CSN on their website, but there’s also no mention of the Caps game on Wednesday. But yeah, I don’t see what reason they have to not show it on CSN+.

Anyone want to box Pops out
And man, we need to slow down.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
I so hope Javaris is here next season.
He and McGuire. Those two, despite this mess of a season, have continued to improve. It did help that this season sucked and they thus had more time to run the court.
Yeah, of all the young guys, they've definitely done the most to maximize their potential
I like the idea of rewarding their work ethic, even if it’s just with an extension or not trading them.
by pantslessyoda1 on Apr 13, 2009 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions
Has Javaris really improved much?
Or has he just got playing time?
I ask because I’m really not sure myself. I know Dominic has improved and it’s becoming clear Nick has improved as well, but Javaris still seems like the same guy.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
I think he's gotten a bit more steady, but he hasn't improved all that much
At the same time, I don’t really see him as a point guard in the long term. He’s basically got the game and body of shooting guard, even though he obviously doesn’t have a jumper. I think that, since he’s had to learn a new position on his third team in two years, it’ll be hard to make a good assessment of him until maybe a third of the way through next year. What really matters to me at this point is that he shows maturity and that coaches and other players say good things about his work ethic.

It's probably too late
He is 30, after all.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
This game is really entertaining
Between Pops jumping all over the place, Javaris running at all costs and McGee doing his McGee thing.
Someone looking for untapped potential would love watching this game.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Jeez
Caron lays a finger on Pops, and Pops goes flying.
Again, this game really amuses me.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
At least Pops doesn't fall into the cameramen
and then comes up touching his lip repeatedly, looking for blood.
God I hate Lebron's acting
It’s funny that, for all of his theatrics, I don’t think he’s ever had a real injury.

Did I hear her correctly?
Or did she say she’s a former Comcast intern?
How? When?
(I was a CSN intern two years ago, for those who didn’t know)

Can anyone on this team make a three?
I stop watching for five minutes and all of a sudden, NO ONE can hit a jumper.
Aww cmon
How is that not Haywood’s fault? What else is someone supposed to do when double teamed?
Call timeout
How about not jumping to throw a crosscourt pass when you don’t know if the other guy is looking.
Not to mention that the pass was nowhere near Haywood.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
But
how is a professional basketball player not paying attention to what his teammates are doing? The other guy should always be looking unless they’re a rookie. If Haywood was paying attention at all, there would have been no turnover. Not to mention the fact that on the very next play, he refused to run out at his man following the pick and roll and basically forfeited a wide-open 3.
I mean ... sure
You aren’t wrong. But the two aren’t mutually exclusive like your first comment suggested; it’s not either Dixon or Haywood’s fault, it’s both. And Dixon more than Haywood.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Plus, Dixon threw two other passes away
While Haywood erased two shots down the stretch when the perimeter defenders weren’t doing their jobs.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
I looked at the replay -- and listened to Tapscott after the game
Tapscott said, during the huddle, NO 3’s and if they score, call a time out. At that point, the Wiz were up by 3. If Toronto scored a 2-point shot, they would still be up by 1, and Tap wanted to get his best Free Throw shooters in the game. They would have been allowed to advance the ball to half court.
Toronto scored, and Dominic McGuire immediately threw the ball in bounds to Dixon. Meanwhile, Tapscott was calling for a time-out. Most of the Wizard’s players just stopped. Haywood, who had run up court, heard Tapscott, stopped and turned to the Referee to call time out – and Dixon threw the ball away.
The fault was McGuire’s.

BRILLIANT
Just finished the game via TiVo.
I’d like to thank 3 people.
1. Tap. For letting Juan play so much. 31 minutes? I loved Prada’s comment – Why else would Juan play so much? :)
2. Juan. For throwing it away. Nice way to end your career as a Wizard.
3. Bosh (and our Defense). For hitting the open shot.
Now, all we need is for the Clips to beat OKC.
I say this all, tongue-in-cheek. Of course I cheered my Wiz on. It saddens me how they throw away games, but that’s all about to change. Is it? We shall see. We have a lot to look forward to. Nonetheless, I’m happy we got the L.
I pray the basketball gods have pity upon our years of misery and injury. Give us Blake Griffin!!!
