Ivan's Forecast: Gil not to play, Flip Saunders as coach?
I can't say I'm thrilled about the first, but what do you all think of the second? Sounds good to me...

Not shocked by the first, not thrilled about the second
I think Flip would be a nice coach, but I think Avery Johnson or Tom Thibodeau have the potential to bring the team to a higher level than Flip can.
I’m also hopelessly biased and scared of people with funny first names, so take that for what it’s worth.

Same here
I’d like to see Gil play this year, but solely for entertainment value; it would accomplish absolutely nothing, and could conceivably hurt us down the road.
Flip is EXACTLY what we need. He got a raw deal in Detroit, even moreso than Eddie Jordan got here, and I can’t think of anyone who would be a better fit. I know that Avery is a similarly big name, but I think his success in Dallas was in large part due to the roster the GM and Cuban had already assembled for him. Even though his voice is fantastic, I think he’s less reliable as a head coach.

I honestly
Wouldn’t mind that as long as Jordan wouldn’t have anything to do with the defense. However, we all know that’s not going to happen so next suggestion. I would hire Tom Thibodeau before anybody else. Look what his defenses have done the past few years. Obviously he probably had better defensive talent but his schemes would still put our players into better position to at least look like a pretty good defensive team. If we can improve our defense I know we can compete for the Eastern conference championship, at least.

I Prefer Flip to Thibodeau
Flip’s teams have always been able to excel on both ends of the court. I worry that Thibodeau does not have enough experience on offense to keep the Wizards at such a high level on that end when Gilbert returns.
Remember, without EJ or ET, the Princeton-style offense is probably going to get filed in the circular cabinet. We need a coach that can come in and establish a new offense that takes full advantage of all the Wizards strengths. Besides, I remember reading that Thibodeau bolted here two seasons ago precisely because he did not want to end up as the head coach here, for whatever reason.

I like Flip
I’m pretty happy with the Flip rumor. Avery Johnson would tear this team apart. Yeah he’s a hard ass and we do need a little discipline and accountability for our guys right now but I think the most important thing for this team right now is chemistry. Avery will do nothing but ruin any chance at renewed chemistry for next season. I still think Eddie was the right man for this job but that’s a moot point now.
Losing with consistency and continuity.
