Stevenson's surgery pushed back to Friday
One day I'll get around to talking about Stevenson's injury-plagued season, but until then you get this update on his season-ending back surgery.

Why couldn't he have done this weeks ago?
I mean, the season has been forfeited since some time in mid-December, so it’s not like anyone would be out anything.
Regardless, let’s hope he gets well soon and can make it to training camp healthy. Even if Dominic keeps on starting, we could really use a decent three point specialist.
He didn't want to have surgery
Having had that surgery, I can see why.
Herniated discs often respond to physical therapy, and so the proper course is to focus on that unless and until a) it’s not providing results or b) the pain is too great. I went 6 months from diagnosis to surgery, and only in the last month was it clear that the surgery was needed.
The good news...
Recovery is fairly quick. He should be good to go by next season, and probably even be in shape. He’ll be able to ride the bike in 6-8 weeks.
The bigger question is
Should Stevenson get his starting job back next year? And my answer is, no. I think McGuire has earned it and I think his game fits in even better with Arenas and Haywood healthy again.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
I like Stevenson's floor-spacing ability
Assuming he comes back healthy and is the old DSteve, I guess it comes down to a question of three point shooting or rebounding. I think it’ll depend on the system we implement next season, too, since I think Deshawn’s probably better suited to playing the 2 in the Princeton than Caron is. I’m hoping that we consider Crittenton or maybe even Blatche (shifting AJ down to the 3), too, but I’m probably in the minority on that.

It depends.
Is Arenas going to be the same guy that got into the paint and made things happen? If so, it’d be better to have a 3 point shooter, otherwise, guys will just play off Mcguire and clog the lane
rockin' the crab dribble since 2009
I think putting AJ at 3 and Butler at 2 is mis-using two of our most valuable players. Neither is as effective there as they could be.
For some reason I’m slightly uncomfortable talking about giving away Stevenson’s starting job on the evening of him going under the knife. Can’t we wait till the offseason?

You could just not talk about it
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Is it three-point shooting vs. rebounding
Or is it shooting vs. rebounding+better defense? I realize D-Steve’s defense was bad this year in part because of injuries, but surely D-Mac’s a better man defender at this point.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
