Around SBN: Tiger Woods, Tony Romo Grouped Together At Pebble Beach

Mike Jones: Wait, huh? You might play in Memphis?

"If I feel good, yeah."

Mike Jones: But what happened to the original plan of no road games, only home games until next week at Cleveland?

"I'm just going game-by-game. Just depending on what the trainer says tomorrow, see how my knee feels."

Mike Jones: But wouldn't it be more appealing to play on TNT against the Cavs?

"Not really, I'm not here for the show right now. I'm here to work on my rehab, not to play up to the crowd and the hype right now."

Mike Jones: Is your knee feeling OK? Has something changed?

"Nope, I feel good. No complaints. Not yet."

Crazy considering just 15 minutes earlier, Ed Tapscott said Arenas would NOT play against Memphis because the plan was no back-to-backs and the team would rather have him for Thursday.

"We set the perameter, no back-to-backs," Tap said. "This is a back to back so we'd rather have him on the back-side this time at home against Cleveland. So he won't play at Memphis."

SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH, nothing is ever simple, is it?

-----------------------------------------------

[ I turned to my boy Mac G during the Wiz-Pacers game and said, "Gil looks antsy as hell....like he can't stand sitting on the bench after only playing one game." (or something to that effect).

When Arenas dubbed himself as being "wishy-washy" to the DC Sports Bog, it really didn't even begin to describe how nutzo this dude is.....yep, the boy who cried wolf indeed.]

not sure how to react to this

i kind of think it’s a pretty normal, human reaction on gilbert’s part. of course he wants to play.
but then, shouldn’t the team have ultimate say? but then, does the team just say ’you’re cleared – and if you’re healthy, you play?’

i’m just a fan. i watch the games. they are 100% more fun to watch if arenas plays. that’s where i come down, i guess.

You want to know why you stick with the plan in situations like this?? Because if (god forbid) the worse does happen and you blow your knee out you not only look like the world’s biggest arse you cost 10-15 people their jobs. With that being said, I completely expect Gil to play in under 50 games next year. How long ago was it he was complaining about his knee hurting after a shoot-around??

“Crazy considering just 15 minutes earlier, Ed Tapscott said Arenas would NOT play against Memphis because the plan was no back-to-backs and the team would rather have him for Thursday.”

Arenas liked EJ because EJ didnt have the balls to step up to him and lay down the law. Looks like Tapscott is going to be more of the same.

This team is going to have to bite the bullet and bring in someone who can a) get this team to understand its about more than just them and b) get them to play some defense. Avery Johnson might not be the answer long term but I think he is the only one in the league who is a big enough a-hole to get this team turned around right away.

am i the only one that thinks its a douchey move for Gil to come back and play a game on the road?? As a season ticket holder I have (so far) paid for 38 games of garbage, with 4 games left you are now going to grace the fans of memphis with your presence just because you dont want to face Lebron?

In hindsight....

This isn’t THAT big of a deal (I guess)…but still, part of the problem is his lack of being up from with the team in the first place…

“Surprise Eddie Jordan, I’m playing against the Bucks!”

“Surprise Ernie Grunfeld, I’m having a third surgery!”

Just like dt3 pointed out above, you can’t make your coach look stupid, even if he is an interim, 15 minutes after he’s said something.

This is why we need a coach, a real coach

Gilbert might be a great basketball player, but he’s whimsical, irresponsible, illogical, and predictably insubordinantable (new word).
We need somebody who can tell Gilbert NO

I think I want to hug you man…. finally somebody who gets it.

You cant just keep replacing the same Players Coach with a different Players Coach with a…. you guessed it, another new PLAYERS COACH and then act all surprised when the team doesnt play any defense. We end up picking anywhere at or above 4 and I say we just trade the pick to the Bucks for Scott Skiles and CharlieV (the player andrae blatche will never become).

I have to keep telling myself

“Gilbert Arenas is not Kanye West.” “Gilbert Arenas is not Kanye West.” “Gilbert Arenas is not Kanye West.”

But with each incident/quote, it gets harder to believe.

Uhh ... guys

Can we wait to see if he actually plays in Memphis before flipping out?

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

You're right....

But we’re good at flipping out these days since we don’t have the playoffs to talk about.

Sorry if I'm missing something, but what difference does it make what game he plays in?

Yeah, it wasn’t the original plan and it would be much more dramatic for Gil to play against Cleveland, but I don’t see why it really matters which game he plays in. In one sense, it might be safer for him not to play in the Cleveland game, since when the Wiz and the Cavs meet up it tends to be a bitter, physical type of game.

And the fact that

He admits that for the past two years he has messed up, in taking a more aggressive strenuous approach to rehab than the docs recommended, then coming back sooner than the doctors recommended, and as is often the case with athletes waiting on surgery due to denial (this past summer). He finally recognizes the need to take a slow patient approach to rehab (according to him) and so comes up with a careful plan to play five games, no road games (few exceptions) or back-to-backs. Finally sounds as though the team, the coach, the front office are all on the same page, and then comes today…Gilbert contradicts the plan, which his coach had reaffirmed only fifteen minutes earlier. It makes the Wizards seem in disarray.

I'm just going to re-post what I just Tweeted

“”http://twitter.com/BulletsForever/status/1427100604" >Today just goes to prove that no matter how long you cover him and follow everything he does, Gilbert Arenas is really confusing."

He makes the team much easier to blog about, but he makes my head spin sometimes.
