No one will ever care about the Wizards again
Gilbert Arenas has evidently retired from blogging

This is horrible
If Gil stops with the blogging (and, I presume, the antics), he’s just another really good combo guard. When will players realize that the swagger, style, and high jinks (no clue whether or not I spelled that right) are what makes pro basketball such a great sport?

Let's hope
I can’t believe there was a time when he would update it every week or so; it really is a genuinely funny and interesting read.

Ivan's last game
Ivan Carter is moving on from the Post after tonight’s game. I know that personally he has made the experience of being a Wizards fan immensely more rewarding for me, and has given all of armchair GMs out there a fly-on-the-wall quality perspective on the Wizards players and organization for the past several years. I encourage everybody to head over to Wizards Insider blog.washingtonpost.com/wizardsinsider and show him some love and wish him a little luck as he moves on to Comcast.
And get excited for Mike Lee (and his extensive coverage of anything and everything that has absolutely nothing to do with the Wizards, whoo hoo)
Aside from when he destroyed Gilbert's knee, can I just say that I love Gerald Wallace?
He seems to play with more intensity than any other wing in the league sometimes, and he’s had some of the craziest steals and blocks I’ve ever seen. I’m telling you, Charlotte’s really lucky to have him, and I can’t wait to see how crazy he goes in the playoffs.
Yeah, the Bobcats got him in the expansion draft
He just couldn’t get off the bench since they were a playoffs team and he came into the league out of high school

He played at Alabama one year
and was awesome and broke our hearts when he left

It's all our defense, too
I’d place most of the blame on Pecherov, too. I’ve seen his man hit two threes, and he doesn’t seem to be able to rotate properly.

Webber could be kind of soft and guard-like, but he also scored 20+ a game on a decent fg%, so I can forgive him
Andray, on the other hand, is one of the least efficient scorers on our team.

I wish I could
But I’ll be back at home this weekend. I also wish I could find a feed of tonight’s game. Oh well. At least they’re winning.

Holding the B-Cats to 14 points in a quarter will do the trick
Then again, I’m going straight off the box score right now because I can’t find a TV at the moment.

Minutes Watch
Taser played a little over 44 minutes
Mike James played a little over 40 and a half minutes
Blatche played 38 and a half minutes
Jamison played a little under 37 and a half minutes
Crittenton played 32 minutes
NY played a little under 25 minutes
McGee played just over 16 and a half minutes
Pecherov played 6 minutes
As if to illustrate my point
in the James vs. Crittenton fanpost about Ed Tapscott and clearly defined roles, Crittenton played seven more minutes (or "starter’s minutes) than NY, even though Young played well and Crittenton very poorly. I mean, out of these two lines:
23 points on 15 shots, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 1 turnover
8 points on 9 shots, 1 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block against, 5 turnovers
which would you have thought had played more?
Jamison___37:19 – - – 11-22, 27 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks
McGuire___44:09 – - – 1 – 6 , 4 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block (FOULED OUT)
Blatche____38:31 – - – 6-15 , 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks
James____40:37 – - – 6-13 , 15 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals
Critt______32:00 – - – 4 – 9 , 8 points, 1 rebound , 2 assists, 1 steal (5 TURN OVERS)
Young____24:45 – - – 10-15, 23 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 HUGE BLOCK
McGee____16:38 – - – 1 – 3 , 3 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist , 2 steals
Pech_____06:02 – - – 0 – 1 , 0 points, o rebounds, 0 assists, 0 steals
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
Slightly unfair
We both wish NY had played more, but after one quarter JC had played 12 min and NY none. Javaris was pretty solid in that span (worse later). After that NY played 25 of 36 min and Javaris 20 of 36. With Pech stinking it up that’s how it was going to work.
My bigger beef: If you only have three guys on the bench, shouldn’t you make your first substitution before the end of the first quarter? Tap put them in a position where at least two guys had to play at least 18 min without rest. By starting the substitution earlier they could have had fresher legs throughout, and also could have avoided the stretch with NY/JC/McGee/McGuire/Blatche on the floor.
Let's not forget
the Wizards have finally beaten a Southeast Division opponent. Yes, this is the first all season, they only have one more, against Miami.
Yes, what a weird game
I’m happy they beat a division opponent — about time. No one wants to make NBA history for that.
While painful, better here and now then against Miami
I can finally stop writing winless or win-less or division or southeast now. Phew.
I tell ya, Charlotte shoots poorly under pressure at the charity stripe. I was about to order a sweat-band for $19.99 from NBA.com with all the opportunities the ’Cats were getting.
But Jamison really is Mr. Consistent. I’m going to have to start considering Mike James for the trade block though, I don’t know. He had way too many turnovers tonight, and if Washington drafts a point guard, I don’t know if they need James. I feel bad saying that being James has been on so many teams as it is, but…DeShawn Stevenson, Gil, Young…and I don’t know about J. Critt, I’m on the fence with him
I agree with you about Critt...sort of
I think he’d have fewer turnovers if he could be used as a high-energy shooting guard. He just doesn’t seem like a real pg to me, even though he’s definitely got some talent. A jumper of some kind would help him at either spot, though, since it would give him the option of kind of slowing it down a bit.
And you’re right, about Jamison. I can’t think of anyone else in the league who’s always good for 20 to 30 points a night, no more, no less. At the same time, I sometimes think AJ just shoots until he has a decent number of points without any regard to accuracy, which could explain some of his steadiness.
