Play This Man

When you have a player finish with a +/- of +20 while the team ends up losing by 15, a big, flashing sign should appear in the box score next to player saying "THIS GUY SHOULD HAVE PLAYED MORE."

According to ESPN
DMac had the +20, Javale was +7.
Meanwhile, what do you do about Young’s ridiculous 31? I don’t think it’s a good idea to draw conclusions from one game’s worth of +/.
Geez
I’m sorry. I’m half asleep and deeply confused. Please ignore me.
it's tough to get taser more mintues because...
crunchtime belongs to crittenton/james/young – you know that. if dumbleavy goes with fred jones, tapscott HAS to respond with his own one-dimensional scorer
I missed the game
but pulling out my Jump To Conclusions Mat for a second, according to the Game Flow it looks like that 13-1 run the Clippers went on to end the game coincided with Taser going to the bench.
(and Crittenton entering the game. That dude has been strugg-a-ling lately)
Not just play him...
But Ernie Grunfeld would be smart to PAY him as well.
Dom’s contract only runs through next year. Ernie should negotiate a new extension now….. BEFORE this kid has a chance to explode. I’m afraid that if he improves as much over THIS Summer as he did over the last one, he may get to be too expensive.
He’s already shooting better this year ( 45% ), and is an improving Free Throw shooter ( 70% )…
In February and March, he’s upped his scoring average to 6 ppg, rebounding at about 6 per game…..
and now he’s starting to dish out the Assists too (4.6 per game in March)…
Throw in the fact that he’s becoming a terrific defender, and that he’s athletic, can run the floor, and blocks shots…..
If he comes back from this Summer with a consistent 3-point shot – the Wizards will never be able to re-sign him…
DO IT NOW Ernie … Lock him in.
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
Great point, Rook
Ernie is usually very proactive with that kind of signing. Note that he gave Caron an extension very soon after he arrived, before he’d really proven what kind of player he’d become. I guess the issue right now is cap/lux tax implications.
There's no reason that our current cap situation would be effected by an extension
At least the way I understand it, the new, more expensive contract would start in 2010-2011, when we’ll be back under the cap provided we let Etan and Mike James expire (which I personally think is a better idea from an organizational standpoint than trading them for talent we won’t be able to resign).
