My Condolences

I am a Nuggets fan. I have been since before their 17-win season that netted them Carmelo Anthony. I struggled through watching just about every game, because I love basketball and watching the young players develop over the course of the season.

I am disappointed to see Caron Butler as a DNP on the stat sheet night-in-night-out this season. I was looking forward to seeing Arenas come back from his knee injuries and otherwise. I wanted to see the Wizards do well this season - which I fully expected them to do, as one of the top 4 or 5 teams in the east.

I am upset I won't get to see another playoff battle between the Wizards and the Cavaliers - that match up has been one of the big highlights of the postseason for me in recent years, and I always root for the Wizards.

Heres to hoping the Wizards recoup from injuries and get back on the basketball map next year!

On another note, right now I believe the Nuggets are on the verge of looking like a contender - they have a lot to prove though, and are getting little consideration from the national media. What are your thoughts on this from over in the capitol city?

Thanks

Unfortunately, I think that there’s only one player in the draft this year who’ll be as good as Melo, but them’s the breaks.

Nuggets seem a lot better this year. I don’t think that their defense is that much better, but they’re still looking a lot more like the team they should be, and Chauncey should be a darkhorse candidate for MVP. I think that they look like they’ll make the second round of the playoffs, but I can’t see them beating LA in a seven game series. They might be able to knock off the Spurs, though.

I guess my main reservation about you guys is the inability to consistently beat teams that are above 500, which kind of gives off a paper tiger vibe, but shouldn’t be an issue if you’re a top 3 seed.

Appreciated

Like pantslessyoda, I’m a little scared by the Nuggets’ lack of wins over headline teams, but there’s still something to be said for taking care of the teams you should beat on a consistent basis. I think they’ve got a good shot at making the 2nd round this year and if they can avoid the Lakers, they just might make the conference finals.

I have to say, I thought the Billups trade would make the team better, but I’m amazed by how quickly he was integrated and how much they’ve improved this year.

Andohbytheway

I should mention that I have an awkward man-crush on Chris Andersen.

Thanks Missing Lynx

Glad to know there are other long suffering fans that finally have a good team to cheer for.

The Wizards will be back – hopefully next year ; when I suspect (and hope) they’ll be a top 5 team in the East.

As for your Nuggets, I’ve been surprised by the way Billups has been able to incorporate his half-court game into George Karl’s Offense… I thought the Marcus Camby trade was simply a salary dump; but then I watched Nene play – and I’m impressed – and you all still have a $10 Million trade exception. Things are definately looking up for Denver… Now you just need that one last piece (ie: Pau Gasol type trade) to put you on par with L.A.

do you think getting Salmons from Sacramento would be enough?

He seems available for little more than draft picks and expirers.

Nope

Nice piece – but not what I was talking about….

For $10 Million dollars – you should be able to get a REAL NICE piece. That trade exception is like GOLD right now. And I also noticed that Phoenix has multiple Trade Exceptions… totaling around $14 Million.

Amare Stoudemire only makes $15 Million…. That trade wouldn’t work because Phoenix is looking for expiring contracts. (do trade exceptions count like expiring contracts?) But that’s the kind of player I’m talking about.
