There's bad news and there's good news
The bad news: Nick Young and JaVale McGee were ticketed for reckless driving on January 1st and could face a fine or lose their license for six months. There's also the potential for jail time, but that seems unlikely given the track record for professional athletes getting jail time for traffic offenses.
The good news: No mention of Andray Blatche anywhere in the report.

Not the worst thing in the world
But it’s pretty much par for the course for the way this season is going. Is there ever any positive news?

Idiots.
They patrol that road like it was Guantanamo……who knows if they were informed or not.
But still, I’m under the impression that they were in two separate cars.
Does David Wesley need to come talk to them about Bobby Phills?

Reckless-for-speed isn't a big deal in VA.
In VA anything over 80 or in excess of 20mph over the speed limit is reckless by definition.
Jail is technically a possibility, but unless they were being genuinely reckless, in excess of 100mph, under the influence, or chronic offenders it’s not going to happen.
Yeah, seriously
I doubt the team will even punish them, assuming that there isn’t a lot more happening under-the-surface.
JaVale is 19 or 20, right? “19 year old boy goes 80 MPH on a VA highway…” color me unconcerned.
Equally unconcerned
“Under Virginia law, you can be charged with reckless driving for going more than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit, for driving more than 80 miles an hour, for racing, or for driving in a manner that endangers life, limb or property.”
“The Wizards are not commenting on the charges. They have confirmed that McGee and Young were heading to Dulles that day to catch the team flight to a game the following day in Boston.”
Me:
McGee and Young were on their way to the airport, which means almost certainly that they were running late and speeding in a hurried attempt to get to the airport on-time. Big deal, who hasn’t done this? Think about other bad athlete offenses. DUI, or pulled over and caught with marijuana or an illegal weapon. This is nothing.
And it wasn’t Blatche, the only guy on the Wizards with “character issues” (a true accomplishment in professional sports).
And their next court date 2/26 will be an offday in the middle of a three-game homestretch, so no problem there either.

Right, exactly
My friend got a reckless driving ticket for going 80 in VA because of this law.
