He’s awesome. He’s one of the young guys that you trust night-in and night-out. He’s going to bring it. He’s going to give you 100 percent and he’s going to play with the energy and effort that you need. That’s why I like him. I like a young guy that’s going to come out there and just play and not make any excuses. He accepts criticism. He wants to do well and he wants to win. He’s not worried about numbers or anything like that. He’s just going out there and keep playing basketball the way it should be played.

Just Goes to Show Ya
There is a way that a young player can earn the respect of the old, crotchety Antawn Jamison. Now if only the other whippersnappers on this team could learn some respect and stay off his lawn!
"It's OK for the Bullets to trade baskets, as long as they can score on their end." -- Words of wisdom from Phil Chenier
Word has it that
Jamison then told Nick Young and JaVale McGee to get off his lawn.

Now that I think about it
I wonder how much Jamison being a “Carolina guy” (and more importantly a Dean Smith guy) influences how he views players like NY and Blatche. That last line about “basketball the way it should be played” is pretty telling, I think.
It’s kind of weird, but out of all the things that have gone wrong this season, I think Jamison’s attitude towards the young players has disappointed me the most.
i would say that in the big picture
jamison is dead on about mcguire, and about the other guys.
mcguire, being a 2nd round pick, and not being guaranteed anything, works his ass off, and has an air of all business that young and mcgee don’t seem to have. yet.

i'm not saying he's lazy and not working
just doesn’t seem like he has that ’i’ll do whatever i have to do to get on the court’ style of play.

“So, as Camby stands at the Free Throw line, the Wizards have only 4 players on the court. Nick comes back in with a sheepish grin. I guess Nick thought since he missed a shot, Tapscott was pulling him; but he was taking out Crittenton instead.
Actually, I don’t know if it’s "funny”, or sad, or significant in some other way."

My words
Given the fact that Nick Young gets pulled every time he misses a shot…. it’s understandable.

“You can’t afford to have a guy struggling with his shot shoot you out of a game,” Tapscott said.

why...
…..is AJ such a ‘locker room presence’?
Bottom line is this team should be better than it is and Antawn is part of the problem not the solution. I know I will take heat for this but I’m tired of all the platitudes when there’s nothing to platitude about.

Who cares AJ — you are a ‘team leader’ on a losing team.

Why would you think you would "take heat" for hating on AJ?
Everyone around here seems to be down on him. It’s the popular thing to do. You’ll probably get a stack of valentines.

Wait a minute
It’s true I’m down on his attitude towards the younger players, which while occasionally valid seems a bit excessive at times, I love Jamison as a player. He’s my favorite player, I’m extremely proud to have him as a member of the Wizards, and if he had been traded I don’t know how I would’ve reacted. He has one of the most creative offensive games in the league, and a case could’ve been made for him to be an all-star this year.
The Wizards’ performance has next to nothing to do with Jamison. Even in losses, his effort has been there more than some other players. It’s hard to fault his defense this year because it’s never been good. It’s obvious he’s frustrated this year, as I’m sure he expected big things before the season started, I just wished he reflected that frustration in a more constructive way.
i second that emotion
my thoughts on AJ this year exactly. i understand him getting a bit of flak for being somewhat outspoken about the young guys shortcomings, but it is more than a stretch to say he is part of the problem

Come on, stop using the "h" word
It kills dialogue. There’s no need to label posters like that.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
