Playoffs?
A usually subdued Flip Saunders walks into the post-game press conference angrier than ever.
Flip Saunders: Let me start out saying this: Do NOT blame that game on Gilbert, OK? I don't care who you play, whether it's Bishop O'Connell, the New Jersey Nets, the University of Maryland, much less an NBA team, when you give up 19 offensive rebounds, you ain't gonna beat anybody.
That was a disgraceful performance. We gave it away. We gave them the frigging game. In my opinion, that sucked.
You can't give up 19 offensive rebounds. Holy crap. I don't know who the hell the basketball gods think we are when we do something like that. We've gone an entire quarter without grabbing a rebound this year. That might be a league record.
And we've still got 54 games left, so there's no telling how many times we do that.
I mean, it's absolutely pitiful to play like we just did. Horrible. Just horrible. Horrible.
Local Minnesota reporter trying to egg him on: Flip, I know we still have 54 games left, but what does this loss do for playoff positioning?
Flip Saunders: Playoffs? Don't talk about, playoffs. You kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope we can win a game.
Disclaimer. This did not actually happen.

Can't be
It is a homage to Jim Mora Sr. when he was coaching the colts.
Here is the link
Yea, 'cause the local Minnesota reporter wouldn't use "we"

I would have posted the video, but I figured most people would get it
Thanks for filling it in.
You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
Haha alright
Yeah I got the reference but it would have been pretty hilarious if it was real and Flip was making the reference himself.
Who's he talking about?
The Big 3 played 122 minutes, so they are a big part of the issue. Haywood played a lot so he and AJ had to be the ones who were missing defensive rebounds. Oberto was horrible in the few minutes he played, giving away points all by his lonesome. Young wasn’t engaged for whatever reason.
As far as I can tell, the starters never committed to their assignments on the offensive or defensive end.
The “shocking” ploy of benching the starters for a more energetic crew should be practiced more often. The role players need to get better — and have a specific role — or the Wiz are going any place anyway.
This game was a lose, lose, loss: a loss plus bad habits condoned plus no player development.
i would feel better if flip went on some sort of rant
he should. everyone associated with the team should. i’d rather have a public airing of grievances than these recurring shitty efforts. someone needs to call this team out.

we laid an egg
the entire team was on vacation last night. the only difference between this game and the phx game is that minnesota isn’t very good. unfortunately, while losing at phx under the best of conditions is understandable, dropping a game to the twolves really hurts.
so there really isn’t much to say about the team last night other than they take nights off.
for those that couldn’t see it on fios, be happy you were spared.
and no, we can’t blame the game entirely on gil, but after a stretch where he hit three jumpers in a row and rambis called timeout, he was absolutely, positively awful, as was the rest of the team. nobody showed up to play. the only difference was he had the ball.
seems maybe there is a lack of leadership. that’s about the only thing worth analyzing from that performance.

I thought Boykins really disrupted offense and defense. After his insertion I saw the momentum change. It just seems w/o Arenas in the game everyone else is hit or miss. It might be sad but I may be an Arenas fan more than a Wizards fan. Sorry.

The guy was like +1 in about 17 minutes. I think you should stop blaming him for everything. He’s a bit player.
You brought it up several games ago and I’ve been watching closely since then. I don’t agree with your assessment of Boykins. Sorry, I just don’t see it the way you do. If anything I think he’s a very good backup PG who is a lottery ticket that might win you a game by himself once a month. The rest of the month I think he’s a solid backup.

Really
It’s not like Earl Boykins gave up 19 Offensive rebounds…..
Bullets Forever - where "Dagger ! " happens......
The Wolves #1 offensive rebounder yesterday
was backup PG Ramon Sessions with 4. Boykins couldn’t box him out. Of course, if our bigs had played bigger, they should have been able to secure the ball before the Wolves’ backcourt players.
To lose that game in that fashion
After winning two straight and threatening a revival is in excusable. Time has run out on this team. It’s sad that the Redskins and Wizards are in the same position. Gut the roster and starts over.
