Wizards rally after starters benched to beat 76ers
For one night, I guess a crazy motivational tactic worked. Yay!

Gils Team
This is Gils Team. The sooner everyone realizes it including Gil, Caron, Twan and all the rest the better. Those two foul shots were probably a huge relief.
Saunders Benching made sense. The Wiz need to learn to play 48 minutes every night
bench not a problem tonight
and we win!
loved the energy from that unit.
of course, philly isn’t good. but i’ll take it!

Seen the last 10 mins
Good to get over the line and win but looked a little bit of a struggle
at the end again, When Williams hit the 3 after the inbound turnover
it looked like it might turn in to another heartbreaker.
Exactly, this game was very, very close to being another one of "those"

GIL tonight
I feel like gil really had something great happen to him on the west coast. he mentioned it in 2 diff postgame interviews tonight…maybe he just loves being out there so much that it revitalized him…
cali
i feel like gil got a hold of some cali weed to calm him down…..he’s so happy and relaxed now
Foye
He didn’t last long. I wonder if he’ll start next game?
Antawn-
Does anyone know why he was so pissed? Was it at himself or something else? So nice to have Gil on the way back. He really is fun to watch.
Saunders speculated that he may have been more embarrassed.
But he could also be covering for Jamison a little here … or sending a message about how he should feel.

I love it
My theory is:
1. Flip’s had this trick in his pocket for a week or more.
2. He knew at half-time that if they starter’s came out a little flat he would pull it.
3. He told the guys coming in that he was going to let them play out the quarter (basically) no matter what, and
4. He told the starters this might happen.
- is why I love it. Think of all the chances Tap had to pull this that could have been so powerful for that (hopeless) crew. For those guys it’s huge to know that whatever you do you’re staying out there, good or bad.
I think #4 is true based on the reaction. It’s hard to pull off a 5-for-5 if the guys on the court don’t see it coming. Also, Gil’s post-game singaled that a) he knew it was because they hadn’t performed and b) he wasn’t surprised.
i think it was a great opportunity to do it, and I think it worked great. If I remember right the backups had a negative differential, so let’s not pretend their play made the game, but they didn’t embarrass themselves by any means.
Long story short, I think that Flip may have reduced our odds of winning the battle (against the right team, it turns out), but increased our odds of doing OK in the war.
(On a side note, is anyone seeing how EJ is getting roasted in Philly? For the record I’m a fan, but it’s interesting that he’s getting killed for a) making their defense worse and b) an incomprehensible rotation. That’s our Eddie!)

for the record – #3 is why I love it.
He said that he didn't tell them he would do it, but ...
that in his head he had a short leash.

Flips got balls
I was at this game and the arena literally rose and applauded when he brought in the whole bench… Great coaching ploy… oh and a lot of questionable officiating in this one, just thought I’d throw that in there because I’ve seen a lot of poor officiating this season (going both ways) and I’m not sure the replacement refs weren’t better than the “pros”
miller will hopefully take boykins minutes
Starting five: arenas miller butler jamison haywood
Second five: foye young mcguire blatche oberto
