Wiz need to make trade with Rockets

I have loved this team for 5 years now and have fallen deeply for each and every player. With that being said, its time to ship out Caron Butler, Nick Young, and Mike James and his lovely expiring contract.

A recent run on the ole' ESPN trade machine revealed that this trade would indeed work by both NBA rules and the contract situation of both teams.

Wiz get:

Shane Battier

Chuck Hayes

Trevor Ariza

Rockets get:

Caron Butler

Nick Young

Mike James

Thoughts?????

They're never doing that

Way too much value coming back. They’re basically trading three of their top eight guys for Butler.

But … a trade might work with Houston because they need shot creators. Maybe we can do something like Butler, James, Critt and Stevenson for T-Mac’s expiring deal and Kyle Lowry.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

I'd want a pick in that deal too

Lowry and cap relief aren’t worth Butler by themselves.

It might be

Lowry gives us a defensive minded point guard of the future who can also run the offense and allow us to slide Gil to shooting guard, while Miller fits better in Flip’s offense than CB3 because he can catch and shoot and give us a decent three point threat. Nick Young and Foye would be our reserve backcourt, with the frontcourt reserves being Blatche, McGuire, McGee, and Oberto, which is pretty solid and a lot more streamlined than what we have now. We’d also have McGrady for a half a year, which would be pretty interesting, as well as a lot more long term cap flexibility.

Not to mention

that you get rid of Stevenson…… and his contract…

Even if Mike Miller doesn’t re-sign for 2010-2011, you can move Jamison to the SF and play Blatche at PF next year. OR, play Nick Young at SF – OR there are a bunch of good young wing players out there…. OR (heaven forbid) DRAFT one…

Maybe include Chase Budinger in the Houston deal some how…

Battier and Ariza are redundant.

There’s no need to go after both. Also, we can’t afford to trade James’ expiring for longer contracts because of the luxtax hit.

Keep it simple: Butler for Ariza + Lowry

Ariza is younger and a better fit as a defensive role player who will defer to Arenas and Jamison. Lowry gives us a backup PG who can penetrate and defend.

If you think we’re giving up too much for Ariza, then you can include a Stevenson for Cook swap so we can dump Stevenson’s 2011 salary.

Daryl Morey would be rolling in his grave...

Cause of death: laughing too hard at this trade proposal.

T-Mac

I’m thinking that T-Mac for:

Antawn Jamison
Mike James
Stevenson

This trade would help both teams. Gives Houston a runnable Forward replacement for half the money, plus they expire nearly half of what T-Mac is worth.

We expire Jamisons contract along with two others and we get a legitimate forward to prop up the rest of this seasons miserable campaign. Also, this provides us more leverage going into free agency so we can potential make a max offer to someone like say….Chris Bosh? Is that a possibility?

Expiring Contracts

I think this would bring our total for expiring contracts up to nearly 50 mil. Putting us at 30 mil total salary roughly.

Which Team Does?

For that matter, who wants Caron Butler? It would be nice to limit our dream scenarios to ones that have a realistic chance of happening.

Cleveland could definitely use him

San Antonio, if they’re willing to add salary. Portland, though they have no healthy players to trade. Dallas maybe?

There should be more suitors for Butler. Any young team needing a vet presence could easily want him (Golden State, Minnesota, the Clppers, Milwaukee, maybe even Charlotte or Indiana), not to mention contenders like Portland, Houston and Phoenix. I could see Toronto wanting him too.

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.
