Wizards to have public memorial service for Abe Pollin on December 8
(This news came to my inbox yesterday, but I got sidetracked).
The Wizards are going to hold a public memorial for deceased owner Abe Pollin a week from today (December 8) in the Verizon Center at 7 p.m. The event, entitled "Remembering Abe," is free and will feature speakers that will pay tribute to Pollin's life and legacy. Not sure who the speakers are yet, but if I find out, I'll let you all know.
I'm planning on attending the ceremony (not sure if this is a credentialed thing), so if you are as well, let me know and maybe we can meet up.
Full release below the jump:
On Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 at seven o’clock in the evening the Washington Wizards and Washington Sports & Entertainment will host an open public memorial for Abe Pollin, who passed away on Tuesday, November 24th at the age of 85. In the words of some of those that were closest to Abe Pollin, ‘Remembering Abe’ will pay tribute to the sportsman, businessman, philanthropist and family man in the ‘House That Abe Built’; Verizon Center, in the heart of the nation’s capital.
The memorial event is free and open to the public. Donations can also be made in his honor to Abe’s Table c/o Wizards Care.

Anyone notice
our friend referee donaghy lurking in the back of the photo?… i’m sure he had inroads with MJ, so its only fitting
nice find
i’m guessing donaghy had $1,000 on the handshake-hug combo, but jordan intentionally screwed him but not going all-in for the hug.
