Trade for Rip

Javaris Crittenton, Nick Young, Mike James for Rip Hamilton

Ok, so the wizards are off to a really shaky start. The locker room chemistry, something we have never had problems with seems to be breaking apart. So why trade for another jump shooter?

Our sg production has been pretty inconsistent. Rips played in dc before. He's played in Flips system so he knows all the little tricks. He can run for days so he will wear opposing twos down. Catch and shoot guy for Gil and a UConn guy for Caron. He's got a ring.

For the wiz these guys weren't going to get any run with us. The Pistons aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Rips got 3 good years left at the most anyways. Get Rip off the books and continue the rebuilding process.

While I think we need a consistent big the most, even before Twan's return Dray had started to come down to earth, if we can add consistent veteran 2 while giving up guys who don't play it might be worth it. We still have Foye, Miller, and Dom along with Blatche to trade for a big. The biggest draw backs are adding 3 more guaranteed years and carrying 4 sgs (Foye, Miller, DSteves). Its a little more appealing then the SJax trade I believe.

What do you guys think?

Do the Salaries Match Up?

Do the Pistons have the roster space to absorb the two extra players? How much money would they save long term?

If it makes financial sense for the Pistons, then I wouldn’t be opposed to it. For crying out loud, we can use anybody capable of hitting a freakin’ jump shot.

Trade Checker

I ran it through the espn trade checker and the salaries matched up. Although I think it puts the pistons over the 15 player limit so it may not work. We have a trade exemption from Pecherov worth about as much as Critt’s contract, but I don’t know how exemptions work.
I think it saves the Pistons 30+ million over the next 3 seasons.

I'm pretty sure we don't have any trade exceptions

They only result when you trade a guy to a team that is far enough under the cap where they can absorb the players’ salary without matching.

What’s the Pech trade exception you think we have?

You know you'll get devoured by Cheaney, Wallace, and Juwan Howard.

No JUST NO

Why would the Wiz trade for him and take his horrible contract
and why would they trade a promising player like Nick young

Timing
and why would they trade a promising player like Nick young

This trade was proposed back when Nick Young wasn’t even active. Few predicted he would be starting any time soon. Even fewer would have predicted his sudden resurgence.

Even if Hamilton does only have about 3 good years left, I think Detroit won't accept.

I’m pretty sure another team would definitely be able to give a better offer than that. Rip is a very good player, he’s not just going to get traded for 2 not-very-good players and a possibly all-star prospect, but likely not.

Yeah, it's Young.

Doubtful, but I think he has very good potential.
