They didn't win a single quarter

Let’s blame it on injuries, Miller’s having shoulder trouble.

You can't play Arenas, Miller, Butler, Jamison together.

too much of a defensive liability.

Guess which one the Wiz were?

It’s beginning to looks like running teams are going to be a problem all year. Nobody on the team with any speed can defend.

OKC

They did a nice job. Every time we closed to 1 point, they pushed it back up to 7 or 10.

They need to suck for one more year so they can draft a big man. They have a lot of nice young pieces.

sure sure

OKC is solid now, improving rapidly, has a superstar and some really good young players around him. HOWEVAH – i think all of us here thought that the wizards were better than OKC this year. they are not – this game was not a fluke, Thunder were the better team and beat the crap out of us.
That is what concerns me. We all were talking 42-50 wins, playoffs etc. I am beginning to have doubts.

Yep, agreed

I had this down as a win and the loss was no fluke. I still think we are out of sync rather than just plain bad. I still believe we will turn things around. But I too am frustrated and am having some doubts.

Me too -

I’m unwilling to believe we are as bad as we have been showing on the court. I keep telling myself – new coach, new system, injured players, difficult opening schedule, we start slowly, players who haven’t played in years etc but I am also beginning to have doubts. But still early.

You All Get Recs

You are all saying what I’m thinking. To paraphrase Dennis Green, we are NOT who we thought we were. We have all of our starters healthy, we are coming off of a big win over our hated rivals, and we were completely outclassed in every phase of the game by the OKC Thunder. The Thunder! Every team around us is getting better, and we’re still the same mediocre Wizards! Well, almost the same. We are no longer young and up and coming. We are getting old and two of our “stars” aren’t playing up to billing.

Gilbert Arenas is only 80% of the player he used to be. He used to be a notch below the elite in this league, capable of taking over games and carrying the Wizards to victories. He’s still a good player, sometimes very good, but he just isn’t that much of a factor in games any more. I’m still hoping he’ll regain what he once had, but it might be wishful thinking at this point. He’s no longer young, and his knee will always be on his mind for the rest of his career every time he takes a shot or drives to the basket.

Caron Butler’s game is in complete shambles right now, IMO. He consistently breaks the flow of the offense when the ball rotates to him. Instead of taking the open shot, he hesitates, drop steps, then attempts a wild, out-of-control drive to the basket that usually involves him dribbling off his shoe or losing control of the basketball. He’s starting to remind me of Andray Blatche from two seasons ago.

If this is the best product the Wizards can put on the floor, then I suggest we break this team up at the end of the season. Five seasons after our first playoff appearance with our new nickname, and we don’t look any better than that squad did. 45-37? I highly doubt it at this point. I also highly doubt we make it to round 2 like we did back then.

Please remove my rec

I believe we disagree. Respectfully.

Removed the Rec

But I was only making individual points separately from the point I thought I agreed with you on – that the Thunder were the better team and that we all thought that wasn’t the case at the start of the season. Didn’t mean to imply that I was speaking for all three of you with my long post.
