DeJuan Blair had 16 points and 19 rebounds last night against the Rockets in 22 minutes of game action.

The money we saved by not using our 2nd round pick? 0 points and 0 rebounds in 0 minutes of game action.

Another player I liked that slipped to the 2nd round of the 2009 Draft was Chase Budinger from Arizona. This kid will be another one to watch. He had a nice game for the Houston Rockets last night.

And he just scored 28 points in his last game….in about 26 minutes… Oh yeah, he had 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals… while shooting 85% from the floor…..

And he’s still just learning….

Giving it another whack

Although 5 NBA games is a small sample size – and he’s only playing about 19 minutes a game, here’s DeJuan Blair’s per 36 stats:

27.5 points (61% from the field), 14.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.7 steals

And the kid is just a Rookie – still trying to adjust to the pace of the NBA game…..

His big chip on the shoulder can only help. After the draft he actually said this “I’ve got a poster of the whole draft. I’m going to check off every team that passed on me.”

When the Wizards play the Spurs, let’s hope our players keep their arms tucked in…. He’ll rip your arms off…

Whack, whack, whack

Spurs and DeJuan Blair played last night against the Thunder

Really funny – the Spurs fans on Pounding the Rock were upset because Blair didn’t play in the 1st half. Then they noted that he had been in for “26 seconds and no rebounds. He is having an off day”…..

Two minutes later:
3:11 SA – Slam dunk by D. Blair. Assist: M. Ginobili
3:32 SA – D. Blair offensive rebound
3:32 SA – Layup by D. Blair
3:35 SA – D. Blair misses a layup
3:39 SA – D. Blair steals the ball from R. Westbrook
Blaur: 5 points, 2 rebs, 1 stl, 1 blk in 3 mins

The PTR’ers were facetiously complaining that Blair’s less than a rebound per minute was “unacceptable” …..

Then:
Blair: 7 points, 6 boards, 1 stl, 1 blk in 6 minutes.

He ended up with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals in only 15 minutes of play….

very beast-like

So much for needing ACL’s to play Basketball…….
