Hawks vs Wiz Game thoughts
At the end of the 06-07 season Kobe was complaining. He had a sour reputation around the league. He wanted to be traded...no he didn't...yes he did again. Two years later everyone is praising him for becoming a great leader and becoming such a great team player. Keep in mind, two years later they added: Ariza (now replaced by Artest), Fisher, a much improved Bynum, and Pau Gasol.
Superstars will be superstars. They become legends, champions, when they have a supporting cast. With Butler out, Jamison out, Miller out with foul trouble, Foye having an off night, and Haywood shooting it every time he touched the ball, Arenas was in trouble. What was he supposed to do? How does he become Chauncey efficient when he has no Melo or Rip?
What I learned is, even without our second and third best player, we are good enough to compete against a playoff team. Also factor in:
- All our role players had average nights at best (excluding McGee)
- A good night from a third string center isn't enough on its own against a playoff team
- Our superstar had a poor performance.
- On the road against a healthy squad.
I am excited to see how we bounce back tomorrow.

My Simple Analysis of the Hawks Game
I was out of town this past weekend, so I haven’t had a chance to comment on this game yet. I believe that I have watched enough basketball in my life to tell the difference between a good team having a bad game and a bad team having a typical game. The Wizards looked like the former, IMO, against the Hawks. I thought they played pretty well defensively, only allowing the Hawks to shoot 41% from the field. Of course, they did send the Hawks to the line a lot, so they are going to need to adjust the next time they play them.
But the biggest reason that the Wizards lost is that they could not make enough shots. With Flip as their head coach, the Wizards are going to get a lot of open looks from mid-range, and they just have to convert at a higher rate than they did in order to be successful. Everybody’s shot looked rusty except Blatche’s, so I think we can write this one off as just a bad game, especially considering how well they rebounded at home on Saturday against the Nets.
