Around SBN: Tiger Woods Makes His 2012 PGA Tour Debut

Michael Lee's flagship season preview story is on the "new" Gilbert Arenas. I haven't seen the print edition yet, but I bet a pretty snazzy layout accompanied this story.

There's an interesting line in there from an anonymous GM about how Arenas is neither a leader or a follower, and he has to be one for the Wizards to be successful. I suppose this merits more discussion, though I think it's way too early to say Arenas has "failed" as a leader. Arenas' snarly rant on media day about being a leader certainly has some merit to it.

The other cool part was how Eddie Jordan said you could win a title with Arenas in the same way you could win with Kobe Bryant -- meaning, you surround him with another star like Pau Gasol. Hey, Amare Stoudemire is out there...

Thought this was a great article from Lee, a lot of it validated mike wise’s article on arenas and his new attitude from last week I thought.

Would we want Amare or Bosh more

Personally, I think Bosh brings more to us than Amare. We need D, a front court of Bosh and Haywood could be great on the defensive end.

It would also mean that to have to money to sign him, we would have to trade Jamison. It may have to be a separate trade, and the team that likes him the most is the Cavs….Maybe for shaq

Bosh

and I say, “in for a penny, in for 20 Million dollars”

At the end of the season, Bosh has an option to terminate the last year of his contract ($17 Million) and become a Free Agent. If he does that, it will take a 6-year contract, similar to Gilbert Arenas’ numbers to re-sign him.

Luxury Tax for the foreseeable future – but also a Championship contender for the foreseeable future as well.

So, assuming Toronto’s big push this off season (signing Turkoglu) doesn’t pan out, and if they’re out of the running by February, what would it take to pry Chris Bosh from them?

They are not going to want to take on any large long-term contracts if they want to rebuild. Instead, a package of good young (cheap) players, along with salary relief (expiring salaries) should do the trick:

JaVale McGee, Nick Young and Mike Miller for Chris Bosh

I really like Miller, so I think we try to re-sign him after the season for the MLE.
